My child had and still has numerous difficulties with bullies, but absolutely no one seems to care. Saying and showing that you care are two different things. Mention bully and you get lip service but zero results.
Not very much homework is given, and the math folder isn't kept well. Also leveled reader books are often not sent home despite being on the homework sheet. Homework sheets aren't checked for parent signature or child behavior colors.
Thank God this is the last year, and I don't have anymore children who will have to go here. Bullying is not taken seriously or handled properly. Little to zero parent/teacher communication. Being assertive is taken defensively. If you request your child to be changed from one class to another it will not happen even if current class is damaging to both psychological and emotional development. If you truly want your child to love school and have a passion for gaining an education I wouldn't send them to this school district. It's sad that this area doesn't have more school options.
silver creek primary is a great school, they have many great teachers, and wonderful staff! we choose to come here as an out of district transfer, and i couldn't be happier for my sons experiences these last 2 years, i am looking forward to another 2 amazing years with my incoming kindergartner! the only downfalls, in my opinion, are the lack of parental involvement, out of the 487 students in the 1012-2013 school year, there were less then 10 regularly involved parents in the PTO.
Even though my child is now in the elementary school, his two years and SCP helped him to move even closer to his successes! His teachers and their dedication to each student was reflected when my child told me he wanted to bring all teachers he had in two years to the elementary school with him. KUDOS to all teachers and staff for all hard work, dedication, and diligence from a very grateful mom.
