This is a good school overall. There are some areas that are more prevalent than others, which is determined by faculty and funding. I graduated and went on to study education at a small private university that prides itself with high academic expectations. The teachers definitely prepared me to make my way into the real world. In my opinion, the only issues that hurt this school are funding and exceptionally low parent involvement. As is common knowledge, parent involvement with their children and with the school can build a child's interest in their own education and future. The parent involvement issue is more a community problem and shouldn't necessarily reflect completely on the school.

My daughter is a transfer student. This is her junior year. She loves OVHS. All of the kids, teachers, coaching staff, & administration welcomed her. I am so glad to see her enjoying school. From a parent, 'thank you so much.'

I think it is a great school that cares about the students . I think there should be consequences however for the smoking on campus that I see when I come to visit everyone else sees but the principal apparently

I personally go to Owen Valley High School and even though we may not do the best on test scores as a whole, OVHS is an amazing school with a lot to offer. I think we deserve at least a 9.

I grew up in Private school my whole school life.. I knew nothing about Public schools and was taught they were all bad and no one believed in God .Since finding this scool (I have 4 daughters in the elemantary, middle and high school) I am so proud of this school, I think they are doing a great job and I am very happy with the enforced policy on school dress among other things.. Thanks for doing the best we can to make the kids of our communtiy better adults... Jennifer

I do not like this school at all, I do not think the teachers really want to teach. I feel they really do not care about students grades, and if the teachers do not care why should the students? That is how i feel.

ive went to ov schools my whole life. To me the elementary schools weren't that good, but the middle school and high school have a handful of teachers who really care. i got expelled for the semester and when i came back i came back to teachers who didn't judge me and did all they can to get me back to where i needed to be. Because of these amazing teachers im one step closer to catching up and getting the credits i need to get. I use to feel that many of the teachers didn't care, but it took getting kicked out to realize that there is teachers who want to see you succeed and grow to be a better person

Owen Valley High School is a good school overall, but needs some priorities straightened out. I would suggest to anybody who is willing to learn to go there.

OVHS has limited course offerings in math, science and languages and my student has often not been able to get the course(s) he wanted. The school admin. had to substitute other, unrelated, courses to fill his schedule. This is attributable to the available funding as a result of the socio-economic ranking of Owen county. On balance, though, it is a small, safe school with great opportunities for extra-curricular activities (mostly sports, but music, too). A few teachers are weak in their academic background for the courses they teach. Leadership from the Principals Office is excellent.
