Northview is a fantastic school! Both my children currently attend and we could not be more pleased with the quality of education, teachers, and principal. Northview received the National Blue Ribbon School award in 2012 for continued excellence as continues to receive the Indiana 4-star rating.

Northview is an exellent school. I went to Northveiw for fifth grade only. My favorite teacher is Mrs. Hommes since she was the only teacher I've ever had in Northview. I also like Miss Smith and Mrs.Jones. To be honest, all of the teachers are great. I think everyone should have a chance to see Northview and meet the teachers and staff. Northview is an excellent school!

Northview is a great school! The faculty, the students, the families, and the PTO work together to make Northview the 4 star school that it is. In addition to an emphasizing academic achievement, there is an emphasis on building community. We're delighted with the caliber of teachers and with the sense that Northview is everyone's school. The school offers art, gym, computer and music classes. There are also clubs for Math Bowl, Spell Bowl, Geography Bee, games club and more! The school is active in CASS (Creating a Safer School). The PTO is very active and parent involvement is high (though not required). Northview is a special place. We've been quite impressed. Keep up the great work Northview!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, grades 4 and 6 in science, and in grades 5 and 7 in social studies. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
