I currently attend Edgewood, lately, many occurrences have been happening that I am very disappointed with. Last year as a seventh grader, I enjoyed it very much, but this year just hasn't been a good experience. The beginning of the year was great, but nearing the end it has just been frustrating. In the way of getting punished for no apparent reason. I believe they have amazing teachers, but some just don't even try to help the 'bad' kids, and some do. I think its a good school, but I also believe that the school needs to make some changes.
I am a current student at Edgewood. I do not like this school. The profiling as of what 'group' you are in is outrageous. Discipline is biased through these 'groups' and so is the total attitude towards one student or group of students. The average day is one of the most boring prospects of this school. Learning opportunities are there but not reinforced. Most parents that are involved either work in the district or have a successful academic student or athlete. The extracurricular activities are decent for the sports teams always fare well, and the academic teams place extremely high. Having been here for two years I would not attend this school again. As for the High School (WCHS) i have heard high praise from students and parents alike. I cannot wait to go to the High School, as for Edgewood I will not miss very much.
My daughter currently attends edgewood and i would not have it any other way! she seems to fit right in and although she is not a 'prep', she is involved in athletics, and is still treated the same as everyone else! i would recommend edgewood over lakeview anyday.
I have had two of my children attend both years at Edgewood Middle School. I strongly advise you NOT to let your children go to Edgewood. The children have around 10 min. to eat after Mrs.Smyth is done throwing her 2 cents in (as usual.) Ask any child that has attended Edgewood lately if how you are treated has to do with you are a 'prep.' and alot of the time it has alot to do with disipline.
I think Edgewood is an excellent middle school. I attended it for the past two years and really enjoyed it. The principal, Mrs. Smyth, is a really nice and caring person. She sincerely wishes every student the best. Although, some of the teachers are not up to par, the school is overall great!
I feel that the adults in charge at this facility sterio-type against certain groups of people. They severly punish some students with unnessacary consequences. Unless your kid will fit in a 'goody-goody' or 'prep' type of clique, then I highly recomend that your son or daughter does not attend this school.
This school is awesome. I attend it now and I strongly agree with all of the school's policies. The student/teacher bond shows in all aspects of the school. Edgewood has been know for its high standards, and I love it a lot. Mrs. Smyth, the principal is amazing; she never stops working for the school's best interest.
