Tom Ray, the principal is an Amazing guy! He genuinely cares about the students and their academic growth and their personal growth as great citizens and people. So much of today's attitude in education is about filling seats and passing standardized tests. Tom and the great teachers at his school are dedicated to a lost art: Instilling the love of learning! For me, the choice was either to send my daughter to Washington or go the home school route. As long as we Have principals like Tom Ray and great teachers like Mrs. Corson, there is hope for public education.

My son's teacher, Mrs. Corson went "above and beyond" the other day by scanning and emailing me some of my son's work and her comments about his work. I was able to send it to his dad and grandparents and we were all able to view his work, his teacher's comments and shower him with praise. I asked him how it made him feel that he did such good work and he looked at me with a huge smile and a thumbs up. : )

I have two children that attend Washington STEM Academy. All the teachers that I have come in contact with are VERY caring and have great communication with parents. The principal, Tom Ray, is always accessible and promotes a friendly and warm learning environment. There is a high level of parent involvement in the school and I always feel welcome when I go into the building. My children love their school!

It appears to me that this school is improving greatly. They are led by a great principal, who sincerely cares about all his students and knows them all by name and family. Most of the teachers have a great passion about teaching and molding the academic and moral lives of the kids they are with.

I absolutely love Washington STEM Academy. My son has some learning difficulties and the teachers he has had there have been nothing less than great. Especially Mr. Pike and Mrs. Patton. They have patience with him and don't make him feel any different from the other kids. Washington is the best school in town!

This is an all around GREAT school! The teachers are fabulous. The principal is just the best. The curriculum is well above other schools we have experienced. My children were struggling readers and writers. Now, as my children put it, they "write like the wind." And reading, I can't get them to put books down - this school inspired my children to love reading. As for science, social studies, and the use of technology, again another big point with me. My children use technology in a way that will prepare them for their future. The projects that my children have been involved in have help them with their personal and public speaking skills (I couldn't do what they do). The principal is very forward thinking. If I could only in words describe his leadership. They come home every Fiday from school to share with me what Mr. Ray said at "gathering time" (Friday morning he meets with all the students to discuss expectations - give your best effort to acts of kindness, no acts of meanness). He's doing this new thing now where the students and staff sport their college shirts - it has us talking as a family about going to college - this one person has inspired our whole family.

When moving to this area 10 years ago, I heard from many people, that Washington is the school to be in. Well, after the first year I knew we had made the right choice! Three of our four children have had the privilege of attending Washington. The Teachers there are awesome, caring and motivational. They are lead by a great Principal Mr. Tom Ray. He takes the time to know every childs name and almost every parent, too! I and my children are Blessed to call Washington Elementary our "home" school.

My daughter has been going there for 3 years now and she loves it. They let you know what is going on with your child. The teachers are great any question I have ever had was answered. They keep parents involved as much as they can. I just happy my daughter is able to go to a great school. My only problem is they don't have all day kindergarten. Its had for me being a single parents to leave work so my other daughter can get to school. But it is worth it. Its a great school.
