It's terrible you think they teach they don't explain anything Yorktown has had 1 year of a school grade of an A and delta has had like 5 if I were a parent I would send my child to delta instead of yorktown

The "overated" review below is spot on. This is a school and corporation that is living on it's past glory, benefitting from being the only district in a poor county that has reasonably new neighborhoods being built. But those neighborhoods are now growing older, and the superintendent (Jerry) and principals who created good quality in the 1990's - mid 2000's have moved on. The supt. and principals today, cannot even maintain what was given to them, let alone improve upon it. Case in point - my 2nd son graduated in 2012. He was nearly a straight A student, but my wife and I still could not believe how poorly he spells, and how light his math skills appear to be. His answer when we asked about Y'town was - "everybody either cheats or the teachers grade easy so they don't get b%$&# at by the parents". Parents have some blame in this. They think when their child is getting good grades, they have a good teacher. But forget about complaining to the principal or, God forbid, the supt. If you're not well connected out here, they just want you to go away. And don't even think about being labeled as a "transfer" into the district. We have friends who were and got treated like lepers.

Overrated in my opinion....real lack of desire by the administration for parents to be involved. Be especially careful if your students need math guidance. Very lacking in this area with high quality instruction ....you're student will need a tutor or will go on to high school lacking in this important area but the principal does not seem to care that they have so many failing students in the math areas. Not impressed with the leadership in this middle school at all. Many cliques, but that is common for the Yorktown School district.

They rush kids to grow up too quickly. The school is old and not easily navigated by the kids. Lockers are not close to classrooms. There is a very high teacher turnover rate at this school. For example, 4 out of 6 sixth grade teachers were hired just this summer. One must wonder why the high turnover? Communication between the school and the community is poor. While there may be many opportunities for kids, they are not made public knowledge. That being said, the staff does seem very caring and do their best given the fluctuating leadership at the school.
