Amazing staff and children. This school proves great things come in small packages! Truly a school for the future!

Grateful to: Staff member

I can't just say thanks to one person, as it takes more than one person to run an entire school. Thank you to the teachers and assistants, the principal, secretary, dietary and janitor. I know they all try to do their best, but we all have our days.

Teacher effectiveness: Somewhat effective
November 20, 2015
As far as teaching (math, reading, writing etc. and helping the students understand, I think they are very effective. As far as helping them learn "other" things, i.e. respect, they have significant room for improvement. Yes, parents are a big part of everything as well, and that is a factor as well. I'm in no way pointing fingers at anyone, everyone has their own opinion and I'll be the first to admit that I'm very very far from being perfect.

Amount of homework: Don't know
November 20, 2015
Most of the time it's ok, but there are times it's questionable. For instance in math, send a note with homework, especially something new, so we can be on the "same page" as our children. By the time school is done in the afternoon, I know our children are just ready to be done for a bit and forget what the teacher "told them to do." When it comes time to do the homework it's always, "I forgot what I'm supposed to do."

Develops grit: Agree

Yes I do believe this is true. As I had stated before, our children have been excelling at learning with the curriculum here.

Develops respect: Neutral

I believe they may try to but it's hard for a student to learn respect if they are being disrespected by teachers and other students.

Develops empathy: Neutral

Honestly, I feel like a couple of the teachers come of as, "I'm going to be nice to your face, but as soon as you leave...." Or one in particular hasn't been friendly to our family at all since she started teaching in this school.

I can't say "yes" and I can't say "no". Some do, some don't. Everything can be fine for awhile, then the next thing you know, it starts all over again.

Since we've been at this school district, our children have really excelled in their classes. However, I feel that the teachers become overwhelmed with the students a lot and feel they need more assistants in the classroom. Not only to give extra help, but to do one on ones with those students who have challenging behaviors i.e. hitting, kicking, biting, name calling, bullying. It's unacceptable to have a child come home, 4 out of 5 days, in tears because they are getting beat on in school and they don't feel safe going there for fear of getting beat on and taunted again. The teachers know these things but continuously give the benefit of the doubt that it wont happen again, but they leave the "bully", per say, at the back of the line with no supervision, for it to happen again.<------this is where my point of extra help comes in
