Sunnyside Elementary is pretty great. It has some minor issues, like all schools, but the focus is truly on the students. There are some amazing teachers, in all grades, but the kindergarten and 5th grade staff is exceptional. The Principal is very engaged with the students and is constantly interacting with them, very visible figure. There are excellent technology resources as well, and teachers are always evolving their style to stay current.

I have two daughters in the school, and they love it. Their teachers are very caring. I like the personable atmosphere of the school. Great PTO, the new principal seems very involve in meeting the needs of the students and their parents, and he is very caring too. Great experience so far.

Sunnyside is an excellent school, due in large part to the administration's focus on education. The school counselor is exceptional; she truly cares about each child as if it were her own!

I was impressed with SS elementary, but now am very disappointed. We have a very nice and diplomatic principal, however she has very little time to deal with poor teaching because she is constantly dealing with discipline issues with our new student population. I'm impressed with the level of extra work the school provides children that need extra challenges. There is also a great deal of college educated parents that do provide in-class help to the teachers and this is greatly appreciated by some, not all of the staff. There are some fantastic teachers, but there are more then a few that definitely should not be teaching and nothing is done to get rid of them. This school needs to get a better feel for what's going on in the classrooms. This used to be the best school in the district. Not now.

This whole year has been spent 'putting our fires...and next year will not be any different' according to our principal. Our district chose to do this so as to redistribute problems (or as I call it 'cooking the books' and receive more money from the state funds. We have an excellent art teacher and music teacher. And I would say at least 1/4 of our teachers are excellent. Our parental involvement looking at our treasure's report for our P.T.O. is misleading. Same thing alot of groups, schools can say...same parents all the time. However, with reboundering, we pretty much added only 1% parental involvement to our P.T.O. and our school in general. A couple of scout troops is the extent or e.c. activities.
