Thing until my son went to this school and he will never go back. The lack of communication is horrible. Parking picking kids up and dropping them off is a nightmare. He was in special ed and speech and when asked about what they were working on and so forth . II got nothing until i pulled my son. Hallway supervision needs to be improved. I watched kids get hurt with no teachers around. This school needs some serious work and changes. Theres other elementary schools in the area and if i were you i would send my kids elsewhere like i have done.

Kenwood is a regular school. There's nothing extraordinary about it. There's no before/after school enrichment programs, almost no outside community help, parental support is low. I do think my son's teacher is extraordinary though. My son loves his teacher and going to school. So I can't complain too much, but Kenwood just doesn't have what other schools in the area have. I honestly believe it's because their principal doesn't want to do anything. Kenwood could be a wonderful school. They have great test scores and great teachers, but they aren't....they're just average. The procedures for picking up and dropping off children is horrible. Vans double park to drop off kids and make it dangerous for everyone and the principal just stands there and lets it happen. The Kenwood PTA president is changing things slowly. Rockwell is becoming more involved in Kenwood, and some things are starting.

My daughter is in the 2nd grade and I am disappointed in the following: * Repeat of what last year's teaching (my daughter attended a different Iowa elementary school last year) * Lack of communication about what the students are learning (lack of parent involvement) * Lack of challenges for my daughter---no homework or outside study
