This school is made for the most creative and the kids with most potential. Some people can't see the greatness of McKinley, becaue they haven't witnessed the experience of being at a school with so much fun and oppertunity. By going to this school, I know the teachers are fantastic, the classes are exciting, and most importantly the students are unique and great. I know the location of the school isn't the greatest, but no school is perfect.

Mckinley has a bad reputation for violence. I just want it to be known that this is not true at all. Mckinley is a very caring and understanding environment for all children. I have an eighth grader and sixth grader that go to Mckinley and I am very impressed with the individual attention given to both of my children. I give Mckinley two big thumbs up! Thank you to all of the teachers and staff that make it a great school

McKinley is a great school. It has a very diverse student body and staff. In fact it is the most diverse school in Cedar Rapids. This school has high expectations for their students and it shows in the performance on standardized test (ITBS). I know that McKinley is constantly fighting the negative stereotypes that come from the neighborhood, but the only way you know how great of a school it is, is by attending. The students are very friendly and helpful. The teachers always go up and beyond to help the students succeed. They have a wonderful music program that tends to get better every year. McKinley also offers programs outside of school in which my kids have been involved and they are phenominal. I love the center point system which allows me a chance to check on my kids and keep contact with my teacher. Great School!

I think that this school is not very nice to 'new' students from other schools or are very caring about the individual students needs. They would rather put them on medication than sit down and try to understand. Not very friendly or helpful when it comes to working out problems.
