I would like to say that this is a great school and program! I was one of the first few students and Eagle members. I have the utmost respect for the staff and the program as it has helped in leading me to become the person I am today. It is my belief that the Clarinda Academy is not there to make you change but to lead you in the right direction and help you build the skills to allow you to become the person that can stand tall and know that we are doing our part to make this a better world for all. Thank You! S.O., Eagle 1992

I am a probation offficer that sends wards to Clarinda. Their education is above standard for most residential placements. Many of my wards were seriously behind in school when first going to CA. There, they were given the individual attetion they needed. Keep up the good work. KM

The Clarinda Aademy puts to much imphasis on petty behavioral issues like cussing and general conversations. The 7 levels will do NOTHING for noboby right when the student is taken from the situation. It is an unrealistic approach.

I have to disagree with the negative feedback given about the Academy. I am an employee working directly with the kids there and we do focus on the 'here and now' but also spend a great deal of time preparing these kids for what we all know is out there for them to face. We get calls from past students and hear from their workers all the time about how well they are doing since they were here and you can really see the change in these kids after they see that there are people that believe in them and what they are capable of doing with their lives.

I think Clarinda Academy has a dream in mind and not a realistic goal when it comes to education. Students are held within a classroom setting that is nothing like the classroom setting they are used to and the one they will be going back to when they leave the Academy. Clarinda Academy is teaching students about the here and now issues with behavior and not teaching them how to effectively make good choices in situations much like what they will realistically experience. Again, it's a nice dream, but not realistic... Clarinda Academy should focus on how to help students that will enhance their long-term behavior and not short-term!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
