In 2011 - 2012 school year, the administration in this district changed dramatically and they decided very late in the year to implement a 1-to-1 computer program. On its face, it is a great idea, but when administrators have placed the implementation of this program ahead of everything else, including curriculum, teacher development, policy writing / implementation & child safety, then it isn't such a great thing. There are a handful of great teachers here, but many that aren't good at all. The curriculum is less rigorous than in past years and there is little to no discipline. There aren't many extra curriculars if your child isn't in sports. I can say the art teacher is amazing and kids definitely love having unfettered access to electronic devices. I used to be happy with this district, but this year has been terrible.
excellent teachers, staff & administrators. Kids are very excited to be a part of this great school.
I am a parent of middle school student. There are no extra activities except sports. Not even an art, yearbook, or chess club like the web site says. Parents are discouraged from volunteering to fill the void they 'don't accept parent volunteers who are not certified teachers to lead clubs'. No student lead yearbook. And unless you are one of the top 20 students forget history day, science fairs, international day or any stimulating extra education. Principal does not return parent calls. They only offer 1 foreign language. Band does not start until 6th grade. And computer classes are basicly enhanced keyboarding no discussions of languages, adobe, powerpoint, etc. But if you are into wrestling, football, or sports (except no golf, swim or tennis) then you have the right place.
I have had three children through this middle school and am pleased with the education they have received or are getting. The school provides a wide variety of outside activities for the children as well. The one thing they could add would be an activity bus for farm children who want to participate in after school activities.
Great School in a wonderful town.
