Essex is a good school. It has the usual problems that all small town schools do. The students are not very welcoming of new students. The staff how ever was very friendly, helpful. There are many teachers there who put in many hours offering help after hours to any student who seeks them out. The sad part is that the general attitude of the students is that academic pursuits are stupid. I don't see that the students have much motivation to do well in school or even care about their future or grades. The students are for the most part disruptive and disrespectful to the teachers. I think most of the fault lays with the parents and not the staff.

A really good school that cares alot about the kids and try to offer all that they can to the kids. The principal needs to be stricter on the repeat offenders there are several kids that should still not be at the school.

I Disagree with the comment below. Essex has been an amazing experience for me. We have a great environment to live in, small town, lots of friends and a fun school with all of your friends! Come to essex for the one on one experience, easy to learn environment and a all around good lifestyle! -Gabrielle Tuck

Attending this school was the lowest point of my childhood. Not only was I outcasted for being new in town, but the teachers failed to make me more at home by attempting to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment. If you are considering moving to Essex, save your children the grief and move 5 miles down the highway to Shenandoah. It will be worth it. They even have a Wal-Mart.
