We recently moved to the Fort Madison area and I have a daugther at Lincoln Elementary. I have been very impressed with this school. It is a small school but has high IBS test scores compared to the other schools in the area so they have seen a upsurge of enrollment. This however has not taken anything away from the quality of teaching. My daugther is very bright and quiet, I was concerned that she would be pushed to the side to concentrate on students who were struggling and who not be challenged but that is not the case. I spoke with the principle regarding my concern and was told that she would be placed in the "advance pursuit" class and if there was any time that I felt she was not getting challenged enough I was to speak to her and she would may sure my daughter's needs were met. My daughters needs are being met as well as every other student, no matter their ability. Lincoln Elementary is also the only elementary school school in Fort Madison that mets the needs ot handicapped children which allows my daughter to get to know and understand children with different types of challenges. I feel it fosters acceptance and let go of bias for others who are different then her. The teachers and staff that Lincoln make everyone at that school feel good about themselves and look at each child as an individual with strengths and weakness. They then will praise the strengths and work on the weakness. I have come to respect this school and feel that they truly deserve to be considered a great school.
