Southeast Polk is a great place to work and go to school. The facilities are outstanding, the HS Principal (Mr. Bredlow) is a big cuddly bear and the rest of the teachers come up with exciting lessons to engage the students in learning. I would not want to work in another school district!!! Keep it up SEP!!!!
Our kids have been in this school system for 9 years. We have one in high school, one in junior high. I have had great success with working with some teachers(this is true at any school) they love their job and care about academics and the student 's self esteem and teach them how to use their resources and become a mentor. But overall, this school has gotten to big to fast and are not handling the diversity of the students abilities. Students are falling thru the cracks, and we will continue to see it. Students are not ready for college, study habits are not developed, reading, writing..and basics are not developed to the extent they should be to be successful. Parents need to be involved, make sure students follow thru. But teachers, administrators you are the ones that are the professionals, make sure you are reaching out to every student.
This school has a quality Talented and Gifted program that because of a singular teacher's intense efforts, helps students overcome many of the unnecessary pre-requisites and 'hoops' that the district creates. Many in the Central Office & some within the high school administration lack direction and knowledge of what the district truly needs. Many activities and quite often academics as a whole are overlooked. The academic arena that leaders do choose to focus their time and attention on is standardized testing, which in its own right is respectable. However, the parents, teachers, administration, & students need to begin pushing for high expectations within the daily classroom setting. The district also needs to focus attention and funds on more athletics and other extracurricular activities beyond the few that produce revenue . More attention payed to the lesser known activities could begin to bring in more revenue as well, and increase school pride.
i am a parent with 3 children in the southeast polk district and i graduated there myself one of my children has graduated one will graduate this year one is at an elementary school and one will start in 3 years my children love this school as do i as far as the help for low income famillies there is a lunch program a program to help with utilities and rent a program where even the kids are expected to help with community service and give to other low income families in the district but you do have to ask for help so the school knows who you are it is a rural school so the emphasis is on responsibility and helping others and has small town values parents ar eexpected to be involved
I love this school the teachers are amazing and the athletics are wonderful. I get a good education and wonderful team mates on the cheerleading squad!
Southeast Polk is a good school that provides the students with unique classes you may not find elsewhere. The athletic programs are very good. The only issues I've ever encountered is trying to get information from a counselor. I tried for 3 days to get in contact and left messages which in turn forced me to call the vice principal.Very disappointing.
I Love going to this school, it has changed my life. I learned tons of new stuff, made tons of friends, and truly have become a young adult. Thanks so much SEP!
This school is a great place to learn and make new friends. I think that all the kids and teachers are nice but some of the rules are just plain outrageous.
I have been going to SEP my whole life and I have loved every minute. The teachers are great and truly care about you, not just on an educational level, but a personal one too. They want us to become the best we can be and they try to prepare us for the real world. I can personally say that SEP is my 2nd home. Earlier a 'parent' wrote about her student failing. It is NOT at all about your income or being prejudice. Our school offers homework help and we even have Central Place that helps low income families. As a student I know a little more than a parent would about my school and I know that they don't want kids to fail. Also, our buses don't stop the bus and read out of the Bible, why would they? I think you need your facts straight.
southeast polk is an awesome school! i would never wanna leave this school. the teachers are great, and the students are cool too.
I think Southeast Polk is an awesome school, I recently moved and miss it dearly. Some things need to be worked on, but overall it is a great school to attend, and the students there have a lot of pride for this school. LeAnn
Southeast Polk is a great school! I like it here. The teachers help you succeed in everything! The teachers really care. You're not just another student. They get to know your strengths and your weaknesses. This is a great school and I'm lucky to be attending it.
As a recent Southeast Polk graduate, I have one thing to say: the kids at this school aren't racist. They just don't care. Not in the sense that they don't care about their grades or don't care about each other, Southeast Polkers just really don't care what kids from the West Suburb schools and Des Moines think of them. More power to us. It's a happy little place out in the cornfields.
Southeast Polk is a great school to go to teachers and staff help you out the best that they can! i know that every school has problems! Southeast Polk brought more counslers to help with angie's death! the teachers were their to help! Thanks so much it helped a lot!
Southeast polk isnt the greatest school in the world, but the teachers do their best and just prepare you to be a real person in a real world.
This school is an awesome school to go to it is amazing with how much the kids can do there we have learned alot with the teachers who are very helpful, and the bus drivers do not stop the bus and read the bible i don't know what made that person think thats what they do.
The school is very predujuce and does not care about a childs education only pushing them out. My child has been a F student for 3 years and can not get any help because I am not one of the rich people in the community. Does not matter if they have all of thier credits if they do not have the special credits the school as made they can not graduate. But they make it impossible for the student to acheive the goals set. They have bus drivers that stop the bus and read bible verses to the students and they wont do anything about it.
Southeast polk schools are great they have alot of caring teachers that care about there student now and the ones they had the previous years. The staff is great too they will help u the best way they can.
