This is a smaller school with top quality education. All three of my grown children attended the elementry school and were all honor roll students which I credit to Salem Elementry. The school district has been facing budget cuts and have expressed maybe closing this school in the future. It would be a shame. Every penny they get will help to keep it open.

I'm a parent of two children at Salem and have never seen an environment that has such a family type atmosphere, and from K through 5th the best teachers I have been involved with.

Salem is the best school in the area. With over 70% of our fifth graders receiving the Presidential Academic Award for the 2007-2008 school year, who wouldn't want to send their child here?

I am dumbfounded as to why this school is rated as a 6 out of 10. We could have taken our little one to two Private schools but we chose the Salem school because of its stellar reputation. We moved here and moved in this school district specifically so our little ones could go to this school! The teachers/staff are very caring and look out for all the kids. It has to be one of the safest schools in the state! We can't say enough great things about this school! There are people that commute an hour to work just so their kids can go to this school!

Salem Elementary....what a gem! It is nice to still have a small, community-oriented school around. It's a real safe school. Parental involvement is high. This is the best school in Henry County and probably the safest in Iowa! Some parents drive their kids from Mt. Pleasant so they can attend the Salem school! We chose this school over two different Private schools in the area...we are verrry pleased with this school! ---Eric & Hollie D.
