WCV is particularly well known for its science department. It routinely sends Iowa's representative to the International Science Fair and other competitive science events. The 3 Rs are not as strong. Extracurricular activities are strong and varied. Of particular note are the fine arts, especially music, drama and speech. Another deficiency is the physical plant. The buildings are not up to modern standards. Still, the school maintains a strong faculty in spite of the obstacles. Parental involvement is good, though not as strong as at the elementary level. Discipline is generally excellent.
