Van Meter has been an incredible school for our two kids. The teachers have gone above and beyond what we'ver ever expected.

We have two children attending Van Meter Elementary School. The children love school and they think they are learning a lot in social studies and in science this year. They are learning about the responsibities of homework and getting work completed on time. Two things they will need to know how to so for most of their lives. I can't say enough about the kind, thoughtful teachers that are committed to the students learning. Van Meter is small school with big hearts. The parents and the community work together in a very positive way to educate and benefit all.

For daycare convenience, we open enroll our children to Van Meter Schoools. The teachers here are genuinely concerned with our children's capablilities, participation, learning speed and attendance, and we just seem to like the idea of a K-12 School. As with any move to another district, an adjustment has to be made by the parents and children. We have been made to feel welcome by other parents and the staff at school even though we are fairly new to the area. This school keeps us informed of problem areas our children may have, and takes the time to encourage our children when they are on the right track. The school offers many of the usual sports to participate in, and encourages students to enroll in scouts and band, as well as other academic opportunities. A new addition to the school last year has been great for the kids. Our children enjoy going to school at Van Meter, and the bottom line is we know they are learning! What more could we ask for? Keep up the good work!

This school is the hub of the growing rural community with programs designed with the students' needs and interests in mind. Very welcoming atmosphere with programs developed to include families in Family Nights, sports, fine arts, and volunteer activities. It is amazing how much this little school community has done and continues to do for its children. High school seniors work as cadets in classrooms and develop a great rapport with the younger students and provide a lasting bridge of communication in this k-12 system. Staff is well-qualified and serve as leaders in professional organizations as well as active members of community service organizations.

The school is OK but a little bit too hard on discipline on kids and overboard on detentions. You do not feel like [you] are welcomed unless you grew up in Van Meter and they seem to not really care about your opinions about your kid and their IEP because [you] give them suggestions and they never use them.
