Both of our children graduated from WCHS. Both were A students and participated in various extra-curricular activities. I would rate only two teachers as 'excellent,' most are very average in their teaching skills and enthusiasm. Athletics remains the main focus of the school with vocal and instrumental music programs barely viable. Facilities are adequate and textbooks old (many out of date). The library is an embarrasement. As in most Iowa school districts the focus is on the three 'B' s - buildings, budgets and buses; there's little lively discussion about teaching or learning.

This school has a very good education curriculam. I felt that my student learned what she needed to know for the world ahead of her. I did feel though that they did not teach personal skills. Like how to deal with prejudism, crime,or other serious things like this. Since there are not too many minority's besides the hispanics and asians I felt that my daughter did not get to experience things to totally prepare her for life. This school otherwise has an ok facility. I saw nothing that would distract students from their work. The teachers all seemed of well background and very nice sincere people. I personally like this school that my daughter attended. I know there are many that are better and far more that are worse.
