My grandson has Aspergers. Phenix has bent over backwards to help him with his academics and his social well being. I have never seen a more compassionate, and professional group of teachers and administration than those at Phenix. When my grandson started school at Phenix as a 5 year old, he was hard to control, he had absolutely no attention span and he did not mingle with his peer group. The teachers were very patient with Ethan, he was finally diagnosed with Aspergers, and the teachers and Administration came together to give Ethan the best possible learning experience possible. What a difference! With the help of his special aid, and his wonderful teachers, my grandson has improved 100%! He loves his school, his teachers and his peers. The parents are wonderful too, and I have never in my entire life as a parent and a former teacher seen a more compassionate group of children and parents. Phenix is now in trouble, and could really use the $20,000. My grandson and granddaughter may not be able to go to Phenix this fall as they are being forced to cut the teachers to half and only allow kids that live in the direct area of Phenix to go to school there. This would be detrimental to my grandson. He is so excited everyday when I pick him up from school he talks nonstop about what he has learned that day. Please consider Phenix for the $20,000 award. These teachers deserve to stay in a school they love and that they have fought so hard to keep! Thank you!
