Our award-winning website, GreatSchools.org, is the nation's leading guide to PreK-12 schools, with profiles of 200,000 public and private schools, and more than one million community ratings and reviews. Our new program, GreatKids, is a mobile-friendly stream of information and activities that helps parents guide their children to education success. This year our combined programs will reach more than 52 million unique visitors, including more than half of all American families with children.

Our staff of approximately 60 has expertise in digital media, parenting, and education. We work together to create innovative and impactful resources for families, combining high-quality research with intuitive design. Headquartered in Oakland, CA, GreatSchools operates programs in a growing number of cities and states across the country, including Detroit, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee. We currently operate with a $10-15M annual budget.

Director of Communications

We are looking for an energetic, communications go-getter to help us achieve our mission of improving educational outcomes for kids by inspiring and supporting parents to be their champions. This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your passion and marketing communications know-how to support a cause that helps families, schools, and the nation at large.

In this pivotal role, you will support fundraising, mission impact and brand building by helping define the ideas that communicate the story of GreatSchools and bringing them to life in a consistent, compelling and memorable way. This will include developing internal and external materials for a range of audiences: education influencers, current and prospective funders, partners, parents and teachers, schools and school systems, corporations, media, staff and volunteers.

This position reports to the VP of Marketing and directly supports the CEO and Director of Program Development.

Senior Product Marketing Manager

We are looking for a results-oriented, product marketing professional to join our team and help us achieve our mission of improving educational outcomes for kids by inspiring and supporting parents to be their champions. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for increasing the adoption and use of our digital media products via inbound and outbound marketing. Our product portfolio includes consumer-facing products (digital tools and content that help families make informed decisions about where to enroll their children in school and how best to support learning at home), business-facing products (data products aimed at media and real estate verticals), and school-facing products (marketing and recruiting solutions for K-12 schools and school systems). Technical Data Analyst (contract position)

We have an immediate 12 month contract position available for an experienced data analyst to join us in implementing new and exciting features on our website GreatSchools.org. Candidates must have demonstrable success in working with database management and at least one year of experience with SQL.

You will be part of a great team of experienced data analysts, working on a wide range of school data projects. You’ll brainstorm solutions to challenging problems, use great database management tools, maintain excellent data quality, and collaborate with other teams. Specifically, the Technical Data Analyst will be responsible for the successful execution of a newly launched pilot project to gather, publish, and share data on college readiness and postsecondary outcomes for high schools across the country. Through this work, you’ll help make a measurable difference in the lives of people who use GreatSchools.org, while growing your skills as a data analyst.

This is a contract position located in our Oakland, CA office.

Web Analyst

We are seeking a Web Analyst to provide insights that will help us deliver better tools and services to the millions of parents and families we serve each year. Research Analyst

We are looking for an analyst to conduct research that will measure the effectiveness of our digital products that help parents support their child’s education. Our products reach millions of families throughout the United States, and are distributed online, and through community organizations and classroom teachers. GreatSchools collaborates regularly with academic researchers from top institutions, including Harvard, Stanford and Columbia.

The Research Analyst will focus on measuring outcomes for projects related to the distribution of K-12 school information and parent involvement in education. Responsibilities include background research on parent involvement in education, developing surveys for parents, teachers, students and others, managing survey administration, participating in site visits to schools, conducting interviews, analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and preparing reports and presentations for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

This is a 12-month contract position located at our Oakland, CA office.

Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a talented and energetic Senior Software Engineer to work with our team in the Bay Area. If you enjoy developing web interfaces, coding business logic, problem solving, taking on new challenges across the full stack, and collaborating in an Agile Scrum team then you could be great fit for this position.
