The Webby award-winning website, GreatSchools.org, had nearly 60 million unique visitors last year and reaches more than half of all U.S. families with school-age children every year. As the nation’s leading guide to preK-12 schools, the site offers profiles of about 200,000 public and private schools and more than one million ratings and reviews by parents, teachers, and students. In addition, GreatSchools offers thousands of research-based articles, videos, and worksheets to help parents support their children’s learning.

Our staff of approximately 60 has expertise in digital media, parenting, and education. We work together to create innovative and impactful resources for families, combining high-quality research with intuitive design. Headquartered in Oakland, CA, GreatSchools has local programs in many locations across the country.

Marketing Manager

We are looking for a results-oriented, product marketing professional to join our team and help us achieve our mission of improving educational outcomes for kids by inspiring and supporting parents to be their champions. This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your passion and marketing know-how to support a cause that helps families, schools, communities, and the nation at large.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s online marketing plan to increasing the adoption and use of our digital media products through inbound and outbound marketing initiatives, and provide pre- and post-sales support to our advertising, Local and BD teams. This is a key position within our organization, perfect for a go-getter who is passionate about education and supporting the role of parents in their children’s lives.

Our product portfolio includes consumer-facing products (digital tools and content that help families make informed decisions about where to enroll their children in school and how best to support learning at home), business-facing products (data products aimed at media and real estate verticals), and school-facing products (marketing and recruiting solutions for K-12 schools and school systems). Plenty of variety to keep you energized and challenged!

Strong candidates will be highly collaborative, data-driven decision makers, who work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to change.

Research Analyst

We are looking for an analyst to conduct research that will measure the effectiveness of our digital products that help parents support their child’s education. Our products reach millions of families throughout the United States, and are distributed online, and through community organizations and classroom teachers. GreatSchools collaborates regularly with academic researchers from top institutions, including Harvard, Stanford and Columbia.

The Research Analyst will focus on measuring user engagement and outcomes for new digital products (distributed via web, mobile and SMS) designed to help parents support their child’s education. Responsibilities include background research on parent involvement in education, developing surveys for parents, teachers, students and others, managing survey administration, participating in site visits to schools, conducting interviews, analysis of qualitative and quantitative user data, and making recommendations to inform product design and program implementation and outreach.

This is a 12-month contract position located at our Oakland, CA office.

Development Associate

Are you an out-of-the-box thinker and a great writer looking to improve educational outcomes for kids? This is an exceptional opportunity for an aspiring development professional to apply your passion for education to support a cause that helps families, schools, communities, and the nation at large.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for communications with funders and partners, grant and report writing, and managing the operations of our Development department. You will work with program leaders throughout GreatSchools to understand their programmatic vision and translate it into winning grant proposals.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent written and verbal communicator, very detail oriented, proactive, and intellectually curious. Additionally, the ideal candidate will also work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to change.
