Great school with very focused teachers/staff, for students that are interested there are a wide variety of honors and advanced classes. The teachers/counselors have been very helpful navigating the college and preparation options for my kid. Extensive parent involvement and support of the school. The 1 star review below is bogus, the counselors have encouraged a wide variety of colleges out of state for my kids. I believe Andover high outscored Andover central high on the state assessments

Transfers from private high schools with rigorous grading scales or weighted rankings should avoid the Andover school system at all costs. Practices and policies at this school will undoubtedly hurt any such student's college aspirations. Grade point averages can easily drop from a 3.8 to a 3.0 without any warning to incoming students or parents, while students taking shop and basic math might graduate at the top of their class. What's worse, the school's administration and board are unwilling to allow even the most innocuous requests for exceptions to policy to pass. Counselors fail to encourage even the best students to consider colleges beyond the state line. Even with the influx of out-of-state transplants in this town, a small-town-scary attitude prevails. Stick with other public school districts or private schools for your child's sake.

Andover High is a pretty good school. The curriculum is outstanding and the teachers are available, though not always competent. Serious learning here is to be continued on a personal level, though. The music department, while lacking an orchestra, continually brings high ratings from competitions and develops good musicians. Parents are not too involved in this school, and those that are have their priorities mixed up. While features of the building on the inside, such as carpeting and lockers, languish, parents spend their time campaigning for a new sign on the building's exterior. The school is kept at a questionable level of cleanliness and its age shows. Since the school split, the sports have somewhat fallen. The student body is very interesting, and mostly lacks respect. The administration is also somewhat aloof.
