I have always loved my time at DHS and I feel that during the past few years the bar has really been raised. Academic standards have been improving, as evidenced by our great standardized test scores (two kids got a 36 on the ACT as juniors!), increased AP offerings, a new 5.0 GPA scale, and the Scholars Bowl state championship. Athletics are a great opportunity for us to interact with others and everyone is always welcome on any team, regardless of skill level. And, most importantly, the atmosphere is great. Everyone is very accepting and there are few irritating cliques to deal with. Overall, De Soto is a great place to go to school.

De Soto High School provides an excellent education for all students. The entire staff provides a level of support for all students that is second to none in the state. They have raised the bar and inspired the students to succeed in a curriculum that is well rounded and challenging. Students are encouraged to participate in activities beyond the school day and prepare for life beyond high school.

A good school with high quality teachers. I enjoy several extracurricular activities, and the level of spirit is pretty high. However, I dislike the 4.0 GPA system that doesn't reward students for taking AP, College Now, and honors courses. I also think that more higher level courses should be offered.

I would rank it a 3 star. Not enough higher learning classes. Kids are not prepared for big colleges. GPA ranking is to simple and hurts for future college purposes. Kids taking any AP or honors courses receive same GPA scale as those with regular classes.
