We moved to LaCrosse in 2005 from a similar sized community in Kansas. We have been extremely happy with the school district as well as the community in general. My children are in the elementary school and the high school and are all very happy we made the move. We appreciate the high academic standards set in the classrooms and the athletic programs are also exceptional. The community support and involvement are impressive to say the least. We would encourage anyone looking for a small town atmosphere with excellent schools to look at LaCrosse. We are so glad we did!
My daughter and son started in the LaCrosse schools in 2nd and 8th grades. The town is a little clicky but the education quality is wonderful. My daughter is now in 7th grade and she has excelled in every subject. My son didn't take school all that seriously but did test very well on the state assesments and ACT and the Armed Forces examination. This school does provide quality education. Sports are also important in this school but I feel that if well balanced with academics children learn teamwork.
LaCrosse Middle School, High School and Elementary was a negative experience for my children. The lack of respect, structure, and class choices was ridiculous. Sports were obviously the top priority in this school and acedemics came second. The whole staff and student body seemed unopen to new people and ideas. They seemed cut off from the rest of the world. When my children switched to a larger school a few months after coming to LaCrosse, they were very behind in the curriculum. They had obviously not been taught occordingly in LaCosse. I would not reccomend LaCrosse schools. If you really care about your children's education, please take my advice and attend a school in Hays or Ellis, just a few miles away.My children were able to make a few friends while attending school here, but over all they agreed that LaCrosse was just not a good environment for learning or living
