I am a student at W.C.H.S and I really do appreciate the grading scale to be harder than most schools around the western kansas area. I like knowing that I am going into college more prepared for the college criteria. In college we are pushed harder than we are in high school and by having a more difficult grading scale and higher GPA, I feel that it is more beneficial for the students.

The grading scale is a problem. Bottom line: GPA is a huge factor when schools are evaluating perspective students. We are handicapping them because it is not an 'apples to apples' comparison. Also, the condition of the elementary and Jr High buildings is something the school board and community should be ashamed of. Yes, there have been attempts to pass bond issues but none have. Bottom line: the community is divided and without leadership to drive some much needed changes I am sure things will only get worse. I look forward to moving my kids to another district.

I too am a parent of a child at WCHS and I so disagree with the above review. Why do want to settle for average? One of the reasons our school does well is because they are expected to succeed at a higher level. Also as a parent of college students, the scholarship part is just not true.

I do not like the grade scale, it is really hard for kids to get a good scholarship for college that they are interested in. 94-100 is A, 90-93 B, 85-90 C, lower grade scale is D and F is 62-, as a parent it hard for my kid to get anywhere, by this grading scale. The school needs to lower the Grade Scale 90-100 is a A, A-, A+. 80-89, is a B, B-, and B+, 70-79, C, C-, and C+ and D, D-, and D+ is 60-69, below is F. It is really hard for kids to get there grade up if they already fail.
