Indian Creek has an excellent caring staff and an excellent art program.
It takes a great staff working with children and thier parents to make everythig come together. My grandchild loves learning (and doing great) and going to school. What more can you ask for when you here they love their teacher.
All the staff at Indian Creek are great! They are all passionate about the kids and their education. The principal is one of the best anywhere.
Love love love our School and staff and teachers. They make this a wonderful place to have your child. We will miss it next year when we have to go to Jr High- wish we could take them all with us!
The principal is awesome!!!!!!The teachers all seem to really care about the kids. They take extra time to talk to parents when needed. The office staff is one of the best I have ever seen.
They are a great school, they are small but thier hearts are huge. I would love to see them get a chance at this for thier are schools going up and I would like to see them get money for extra's they deserve it.
Indian Creek has a passion that runs deep in the fabric of the school for the kids and the education they provide. Cheers!
I'm thrilled to have my children enrolled at this school. The staff is wonderful, and I love how positive an experience my children have had since we moved to this neighborhood.
The faculty are excellent at communicating with you about your child and the principal is usually attentive about any concerns you have
I have one child at ICE who has attended for the last two years. I have been thrilled with her experience there. She has been blessed with great teachers (Kdg & 1st). She is working approximately one grade level ahead and the teachers work with her to keep her challenged, but keep her with her class so she can still benefit from learning with her peers that are on her emotional level. Principal Voyles is a wonderfull, hands on individual and is out every day in the school. Parent involvement is a downside to this school. There seems to be only a core group of individuals who are willing to step up and help out with PTO and other classroom events. Many of the classrooms are extremely small and cramped with desks and children.
This school has been great for my kids. They love the special attention they get from smaller class sizes here at Indian Creek. They have great leadership in principal Voyles. Great job Indian Creek & Staff!
I have two children at Indian Creek and they love it there. The teachers are very involved and concerned about the children's well being and academic achievements. Principal Voyles is very hands on and a day doesn't go by that we don't see her out talking and interacting with all the students. The school is somewhat strict as far as acting out or misbehaving, as well it should be. In this day in age it is refreshing to see a school hold the kids accountable for any bad or unacceptable behavior.
From first glance, ICE is a great school. It's safe and clean. We were actively involved in events and room parties. As long as we were going with the flow, everything was fine. The moment we had an issue with teachers or policies, we found administration to be willing to listen but never take action to address our concerns. We got fed up with meetings and discussions about what could/should/would be done and decided to homeschool. It was the right decision for us. I have to say, on the way out the door, administration was gracious. Also, as we've gone back for special events, like the Fun Fair, and we've been treated well. My child still hugs her former teachers and principal...and they always smile and ask how she's doing.
I have had 2 children in ICE and cannot say enough good things about the school. My oldest a boy having moved in from another district, was encouraged, challenged and excelled under the leadership here. My daughter has special needs and everyone on her team has her best interest, and that of our family, in focus. My son has moved on to junior high and was well prepared and excelling. My daughters emotional, educational and physical needs are cared for at a highly professional and kind level. Parent involvement is encouraged and appreciated. Leadership of teachers and admin is second to none. Great school!
I have 2 children that attend this school, and although I have had some doubts in the past, every issue that has come up has been dealt with swiftly and efficiently. ALL schools will have problems, even private ones, this school is no different. I have experienced excellent teachers, and not so great teachers. Overall I have no complaints. The principal is VERY involved, not a day passes that we do not see her helping and interacting with the children. She is firm, but fair. My children are both acheiving above grade level, and the teachers strive to accomidate them. (although they sometimes need a little prodding.) I think that the main issues that this school has, are due to the parents lack of participation. We need to be in control of our children's future, and not expect the schools to do our job.
This school is terrible! I agree with the other posting about boys and this school. This school does not work with parents at all, like their school website boasts from the principal. The principal believes she knows what is right and won't deviate from the methods at this school; unfortunately, this is hurting our kids and not helping them be good adults. The methods we as parents use at home are not able to be used at this school (or any Olathe school) because it disrupts the other kids' learning too much. So kids are sent to the principal's office or a safe room to discourage their behaviors, also walking a line at recess for punishment! This school has many instances of contradictions that we have experienced first hand. They want the kids to make choices, but then get in trouble if they pick the wrong choice. This is unacceptable!
Agree with child. The school is bad for little boys to go to school. Space in the classroom is very limited. The desks are small for boys and crowded close to together. Faculty is strict to a fault as far a little things like talking in a hall or talking too loud at lunch. They take away the recesses of the children for punishment. They also take away the ability to talk at recess. Everything little is controlled with a lot of punishments (taking away so called rewards). Big things like fights at recess or unsupervised sports resulting in injuries go on. Better to be quiet and not learn than to be boisterous and involved. Almost no male figures at all in the school. The teaching is rote and out of the book. Worksheet, worksheet, little room for creativity. There is one outstanding teacher rising above stench of admin/worksheeters-- Stubblebein,
