This is our first year at Ascenson and I couldn't be happier. I really feel a sense of community at this school. The church supports the school and it's students. The principal and parents support the teachers. The teachers really care about the school and their students. The academics are challenging and I have already seen how well supported the students are that struggle with reading or math. We are truly blessed to be at this school. Keep up the great work!

My son is in his 8th year at Ascension. I have found the school to provide a diverse and innovative educational expirience. The school families are the backbone of the 2nd largest parish in the KC area, and the school kids are given many opportunities for service within the school, parish and community. Facilities are excellent and improving, and the teachers are tough. Mostly fair, but willing to personally take an interest in getting your child the help that he or she needs. Ascension reinforces the Catholic ideals and values that parents attempt to instill at home. I'm a very satisfied parent who has been a member of Ascension since the founding in 1991.

I have had children in this school almost since it opened and it has really deteriorated. The principal is very weak, she mainly hides in her office. I agree with the last reviewer - all but a few of the best teachers have left. A new math curriculum was introduced 2 yrs. ago that is very weak and doesn't teach the basics. (We were told it had to be wonderful because Blue Valley school district has it.) Basically our principal cares more about the KS assessment tests than anything else. The kids are not prepared for high school, especially in math and science. It is sad because this used to be an excellent school.

Wonderful School. Class size of 20 students. Very good, caring teachers. Catholic school, teaches values to students. Parents are very involved with school, and spefically with classes.

Strong Faith Based School. Strong Catholic/Christian beliefs and principles incorportated daily into an academically challenging cirriculum. Many extracurricular activities available. Active involvement in C.Y.O. Sports. Beautiful Facility. Safe Environment. Just one of the many fine Catholic Schools in Overland Park. Would not consider Ascension School superior to Nativity, Holy Spirit, Holy Cross, St. Michaels. Johnson County is so fortunate to have such a great Catholic School system.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
