My daughter is a freshman at BBHS and is loving it. She felt welcome from the first day she toured the school. She had a choice of Notre Dame, Newport Central Catholic and BBHS. After visiting and shadowing at all of them she made her choice. She found the community spirit at BBHS to be friendly and inclusive. She is excelling in her academics and is fond of the teachers. We are all happy with Bishop Brossart and would recommend it to anyone seeking a Catholic High School, where your student will feel like part of the family and be challenged to achieve at their highest potential!!!
I agree with the comments made about the bullying, this has been a problem here with my child, and the school has failed to address the issue. The school will not investigate the bullying problem and told my child 'it's all in your head'. I am very disappointed with this school, as I was trying to raise my children to be responsible.
What the first reviewer said is dead on. Academic programs at Brossart are generally poor, but the school has even worse problems than that. Like the fact that anyone who doesn't toe the line at Brossart can count on being bullied daily, pretty much from day one until graduation. I went to other schools (including Catholic ones) and I have never even come close to seeing that much bullying at any other school. And if you report it, you get laughed at. Bullies at Brossart will not be punished, period. This has already been the subject of some criticism locally. No I would not recommend this school to anyone.
This Parochial High School has consistently excelled in academics for years, and does regard the Student in the highest regard. Their sporting program has been able to excel in recent years, despite that BBHS is 1/5 the size of its neighboring Public School. Roman Catholic Christianity has been the bulwark of its exemplary modeling of roles for Youth to follow, etc. I would highly recommend this School to any prospective Student who wants the best of Secondary Schooling in rural Campbell County.
Bishop Brossart High School is a tremendous resource of Learning, Compassion, and Role-Modeling for the Youth of Southern Campbell County. The Academic program is very strong, and well-suited for scholastic aptitude in developing viable, study habits that can last a life-time. I have discovered the Staff to be very supportive of the Students' efforts to succeed, and in serving as Christian Role Models for the Sudent Body. I would highly-recommend Bishop Brossart to other Parents who are seeking a nurturing Christian environment in conjunction with strong, Scholastic achievement.
I think that Bishop Brossart is one of the best schools in the area you could send your child to. It has and outstanding sports program, wonderful teachers, and a principal who truly cares about his students.Brossart is a little behind in helping children who need some extra assistance. Contrary to another parents belief, the disciplinary aspect of the school is very strong. Most of the staff follow the rule book precisely. The Dean of Discipline at Brossart takes his job very seriously and give the just punishment for the rule that has been broken. My opinion of Bishop Brossart still stands that it is a great school and i am proud to say I will graduate from Bishop Brossart.
Unfortunately, this school is deeply troubled and has been for years. Anyone who does not completely conform 100% of the time is harassed. The school has a really hard time getting a handle on its discipline problems, and I'd recommend staying away at all costs. This is also not the place you want to go to school if you have ever had any type of academic or learning problems. The school has no grasp on things like this, and arrogantly refuses to educate itself on how to deal with it.
