I have two children enrolled there currently and more to go . I personally believe it does not get any better the way the school is set up is user friendly for the kids . The pre school rooms have there own private restrooms and are located in close proximity to the gym, library , private playground and lunchroom perfect for the small ones. Every class room has a computer that the children use regularly . The children are rewarded for excellence and the learn to respect learning because it is made fun by the excellent staff there.Students who are behind receive extra help to catch up, the children who are averaged are helped to excel ,and the children who are ahead are encouraged to push even further forward . They received individual attention , not the way it use to be where everyone was subject to the same learning curve keep up or get out. my oldest is beginning third grade this year and she is very prepared thanks to the hard work from her teachers. She has been rewarded and recognized by someone ( i.e. teacher or principal) for every achievement she has made. The principal is great she is always AVAILABLE and has even returned calls to me when she was not at school . She is active and visible to all students. My children are not afraid of her like when I was a child. she has made an attempt to accommodate every request or answer every question for me. This is the best school in the county and it truly shows the moment you walk in the door. THANKS TO ALL THE TEACHERS THERE KEEP IT UP MY KIDS ARE COUNTING ON YOU!!!!!!

This school is the best kept secret in the county! We had planned to homeschool our daughter but decided to give Burnside's PK program a try for the benefit of socialization. She loved it and is now nearly finished with Kindergarten. She can count to 100 by 1's, 2's, & 5's, do 2 digit math problems, and read at what I would consider a 2nd grade level. But best of all she has developed a love a learning and a sense that school is a good place where people care about you. The principal, Ms. Mounce, and the teachers are very visible & involved. When the children arrive in the morning there are several staff members outside to watch over the grounds. Inside, the teachers stand in their doorways smiling & greeting the students & keeping the halls orderly & safe. There is a certain friendliness here that rare & precious.

This is truly a school that is on the move. Through the innovative leadership of the principal the school has moved to the position of top in the district inspite of the fact that nearly 90% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. They are beating the odds by long shot! They are above the state average in every content area and have schools above 100 in 7 out of 8 areas. Fantastic

This used to be a really great school but in the past few y ears it has really gone down hill the principal does not give a flying fart in space about the school or the kids the only reason she is there is for the pay check she need's to be replaced now i have no complants with the rest of the school just herwhen it comes to bullying she does not care i know this first hand i had to threaten to sue her to get anything done she has another job theching at the colledge so she needs to leave Burnside active emideatly

Burnside Elementary has been very difficult and to deal with. However, my child has learned a lot academically but, it has cost her emotionally.

My oldest child is in kindergarten at Burnside Elementary. As her parents, we have been thrilled by the level of support academically, socially, emotionally, and physically that the school provides. Our child has really blossomed this year with the wonderful teachers, support programs such as Success Maker, Break Through to Literacy, and full time assistants for teachers. This school is a Reading First School, which makes me confident that the reading program is soundly based on current research and extensive training has been provided to all staff.

Burnside Elementary is by far the best elementary from what I have experienced first hand. It begins the moment you arrive. The school is very well maintained. They (the staff & kids) take pride in the way their school looks. The staff is well organized, friendly, and informed in all aspects of the school. Burnside has wonderful activities for the kids! Private music lessons, choir, band , drama, basketball, football, cheerleading, academic team, pride /4H club ...just to name a few! This school has so much to offer young students, especially those that need a little extra push or love when it comes to learning! I have several children enrolled her at Burnside and I wouldn't have it any other way! I truly believe in the work accomplished here, the teachers, and the principal!

I really love this school. It has exceeded all my expectations in a variety of ways. The principal is available and seen at all school functions. The teachers are friendly and helpful. They have done excellent job teaching my child. The academic standards are high and the expectation is that all the kids in the school can learn. I feel Burnside offers a variety of programs that include band, choir, drama, math club, private instrument lessons, intramural basketball, football, cheerleading, academic team and a PRIDE club. This school is even taking the 5th grade students with honor roll grades to New York this summer. The school sends home reminders frequently about meetings for the PTA, parental involvement, special events and other types of school functions.

I am very disappointed with this school especially the principal and teachers. There is a very big problem with the lack of communication among this school. I am currently looking for a school that my child and myself will be comfortable with no matter the distance or the cost.
