I can't agree more with the other parent that had issues with his son having ADHD. My son has had some problems with the transition from going half day to full day. The staff is the first one to label a child with a disability before trying to help the student. They have to understand these are kids NOT adults. They need to have the patience to have to deal with children from the ages of 5-11. Some kids are harder than others but still have the ability to learn. The staff needs to take a course about children with ADD, ADHD, and ODD to further their education as well.
My children went to this school when Connie Ryle was principal. Awesome school, amazing experience. It was like a private school in every respect besides being free!
Hinsdale is amazing! The teacher and staff are allstars! I wouldn't have it any other way!
This school has been the most horrific experience I have ever seen. My son has ADHD and has a lot of trouble focusing to begin with. There are no classrooms just one big room separated but bookshelves. During class every child can hear what the other is teaching or they are looking to see what the other class is doing. I have been trying to get my son to be able to adjust to normal life without his medication but when the secretary found out she called social services in which they began to tell me unless I give him medication that makes him malnutritioned and frequent headaches I would be seeing a lot if her. I called a meeting with the entire team of people to get some extra help for my son because I was receiving notes stating he was failing and unable to keep up with the other students and may have to repeat a grade. I asked for a learning disability meeting which requests for a tutor to be brought in on their expense since the teacher was unable to get through to him in class they are required by law for their funding. They proceeded to tell me he was doing great in class and his test scores were right where he is supposed to be. No recess for low test scores! Really!!!
My daughter graduated from Hinsdale 2 years ago and my son graduated last year. This is school is second to none! Very professional and personable staff. My kids still miss Hinsdale, as well as I.
Hinsdale is a great school. The adminstration puts the kids first. Hinsdale has a dedicated group of parents, but more involvement is necessary as the state and federal governments continue to cut the amount of money going to our schools. This is our investment in our children and we need to take our time and invest in them. This is one of the greatest gifts we can give them. If you volunteer in many ways and any help with fundraising/donations goes directly back into the programs and materials our children need. My child has ADD and some learning deficiencies/disabilities. Most at Hinsdale have been very helpful. I have found if you are patient and stick to being an advocate for your child, the adminstration and teachers are more than willing and very grateful to help. They are committed to your child succeeding.
I could not be happier with Hinsdale. I have 2 kids there now. The communication between the school and the parents is awesome. I work full time and seldom make it to the school to volunteer. I still feel very connected with the school through the communication through newsletters, phone messages and the website. The open Pod system seems to work great for my kids. Several parents mentioned how well the school works with children with learning difficulties. I am on the other side of the coin I find the school also works great for children who are advanced. They have continually found a way to challenge my son. I can t imagine my kids being in any other school. I appreciate Mrs. Ryle and her fantastic leadership to give our community such an awesome place to send our kids.
Excellent elementary school. I have 3 children which 2 have graduated from Hinsdale, and one who is in 3rd grade presently at Hinsdale. The teachers work closely with you and your child. The classroon structures (Pods) help the kids learn to focus and to work in a group setting. Love this school!
Hinsdale is an excellent school. I am on my fifth year at Hinsdale with seven years left to go, and feel lucky to have such a wonderful school in my neighborhood. My children love school, we love the teachers and the staff. I know they will be well prepared to move on to middle school. Having an open classroom encourages kids to pay attention, learn to focus in a way they would not in a regular classroom. This will come in handy when they enter the work force someday. The parent support at Hinsdale is phenomenal. Being the current PTA President I can assure you that the parental involvement is not only welcome but encouraged. The principal, Connie Ryle, has to be given credit for the wonderful test scores, staff, and positive image Hinsdale has.
I have 2 children at R.C. Hinsdale. My son just finished 5th grade. We could not been happier with the experiences we have had while parenting our children through this school. In six years I cannot recall any negatives associated with the school, the teachers or the administration. Connie Ryle is the most dedicated principle I have ever met. She goes above and beyond the call of duty. We love this school and feel very fortunate to have it in our neighborhood.
Hinsdale is THE place to soar! I have had children enrolled in Hinsdale for the last 6 years. The leadership by Connie Ryle is exceptional. Her leadership, dedication, caring is unsurpassed. When looking for a Middle School, this became very evident. Under Connie Ryle's direction, she had added to the leadership team and the teachers are outstanding. They are dedicated to academic excellence. I have found Hinsdale to work collaboratively to meet student needs through appropriate teaching methods, and active involvement of parents. Hinsdale is where students acquire the skills and knowledge needed to go on to middle school.
I already have two children at Hinsdale and another is going to be attending kindergarten there next year. The school staff are very friendly. They have been very understanding of our older daughter who is developmentally delayed and have her set up with the needed services. There is a lot of parental involvement and the PTA does a great job of organizing functions for Hinsdale families. The teachers are great!
Hinsdale is a wonderful school with a highly motivated, caring, and dedicated group of teachers. The academic programs are geared towards children of all abilities and there are many resources for those children with learning disabilities. The open classrooms can at times be distracting, however the way in which the teachers work together to create an environment of learning ultimately works well for most students. Once my children adapted to the open classroom situation they really thrived, and it has actually helped them with focus and concentration in other areas. The parent involvement is amazing and the staff very supportive and welcoming to parents. Hinsdale's principal is always visible at the school and available to discuss any concerns. She has kept the school moving forward towards its goals has done a great Job!
Yes Hinsdale has great test scores, good academics, and minimum extracirricular activities. Parents are involved, but no more than other schools around. BUT, if your child has a learning disorder- ADHD, Dyslexia, Slow Reading, ect. you better look elsewhere. It is almost the attitutde from the staff, that unless you are a perfect child, Don't come here! The open classrooms, no walls seperating the classes, is too distracting for even the most advanced student, both because of maturity and because of they just want to know what is going on around them.
Hinsdale is an AWSOME school and this comes from my children as well as myself, these teachers really make a difference. I agree with the prior comment as I could do without the current principle. If the current VP was principle it would make the school much better.
Great I went to hinsdale from 1st to 5th grade. the princibale and staff are the nicest and best I've ever met. It is one of the few elmentary schools that have a future problem solving team. My only regret is that hinsdale isn't a middle school also.
My daughter has been at Hinsdale since Kindergarten. I have two other children in Catholic schools, she is much further along in her academics than my other two children. R. C. Hinsdale's staff and principal are the best I have seen anywhere. You will be greeted with a warm friendly smile and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Your child will be treated respectfully and love going to school. My only regret with Hinsdale is that it does not go through 8th grade.
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT is all I can say about Hinsdale. The teachers are the best in the state and the parent involvement is outstanding! The principal I could do without but the rest of the staff makes up for her. The curriculum is challenging compared to other schools and my son left Hinsdale more than prepared for middle school. My only complaint with Hinsdale is that my son had to leave because it did not go to the 8th grade. THIS FAMILY MISSES YOU HINSDALE!
