There are some great teachers at Lloyd that actually care about the students. Then there are some that do not. Unfortunately the school no longer offers ANY computer classes despite brand new computers available. This is a disadvantage for students looking to enter college. Many parents also seem to have trouble getting the staff to do more than just 'listen' to parental concerns.

Both of our daughters have had great experiences at Lloyd Memorial High. One graduated in 2003 and the other will graduate in 2007. The teachers are very accessible and always willing to go the extra mile. A friend of ours from Cincinnati is going to a nearby college. He and his friend (a Lloyd grad) were having trouble in calculus. His friend called his math teacher at Lloyd and asked for help. She had them both come to see her and worked with them until they had figured it out. Our friends father called me amazed that she would take her time to help his son when he was never her student. I explained to him that I wasn't surprised by her. It was typical of the attitude of so many of the teachers at Lloyd. They teach!

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Kentucky used the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 through 12 in reading, social studies, science, writing, and math. The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky.
