Could not ask for a better school. My child is in Kindergarten this year and at mid-way through the year she has far exceeded all levels of achievement expected by the state. She is reading on a first grade level, math skills are on a first or second grade level. What a spectacular school.

I thought about sending my kids to a private school then they attended Collins Lane- why pay for a private school, this one is just as good!

This school is full of talented teachers and people who care about kids. We have a new principal in 2007-08, so the environment may be changing somewhat... hopefully, just a continuance of the same standard of excellence that Collins Lane has always strived for. At this moment, staff morale is good and hopes are high for continued success this year in CATS testing. The school itself is made up of mostly middle class to upper middle class caucasian students. Very small mix of other ethnic groups includes Hispanic, African American and Middle Eastern. The free and reduced lunch percentage is around 30%, which is just high enough to allow them to receive Title I funds for literacy and reading recovery programs. This would be my public school of choice for Franklin County, for sure.

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Kentucky used the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 through 12 in reading, social studies, science, writing, and math. The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky.
