Girdler Elementary is a good school. Now having said that I also think that their attendance policy is absolutely ridiculous.

I have a child that attends school at Girdler Elementary. I am very impressed with this school. The teachers there do a great job. My daughter is pushed to do her best, and she does. I think if you want the best to be brought out of your child, you should send your children to Girdler. I love that academics plays a more in important role than sports. Don't get me wrong, my child does the sport thing as well, but she is also a straight A, student. Girdler can't be beat, as far as I am concerned.

I totally disagree with comment posted November 13, 2007. My child attends Girdler Elem and you cannot ask for a better school. The teachers are wonderful and treat each child as if he/ she were their own. I feel safe knowing my child attend Girldler, that's why I drive 35 mins each morning (out of the way) to take her there. We live closer to other schools but I choose to send her to Girlder. Education is top priority at Girdler all kids are encouraged to do their best, the teachers are involved w/ their students. Girlder may not have the best basketball program but their Odessy of the Mind Team won state, that should tell you something. I feel Girlder is the best school for my child and we are proud to be Tigers.

If you want your child in a school that will strive to be great in attendance awards then Girdler is the place to be. If its education you want you may want to look else where. My child became ill with diabetes and has had to miss several days of school. Now if he is at the Dr or we are a little late the school calls each morning to see where he is. If they were concerned for his health it would not bother me but it seems they are more concerned with attendance records. To pick a child up in the afternoon you have to stand in line and sign a paper to get your own child, I sent someone not on the pick up list and he was allowed to leave with this person. Real secure.
