A wonderful school, it teaches students everything they need to know and more. Just wish it was a newer building.
If you are moving to the Barren County area this is your school of choice. Outstanding teachers that demand students achieve at high levels. One of the top schools in the state. Simply the best!
Outstanding school on many levels. Dedicated teachers/administration, wide variety of course offerings, small classes, above average ACT/CATs, ranked among top schools in KY.
GHS and the entire Glasgow Independent School system is head and shoulders above the other area schools. GHS is ranking in the 25 performing schools and consistently produces well-training, well-prepared students. Students from GHS attend pretigious colleges and universities and preform well-above the national ACT testing standards.
One of the most overachieving schools in the state. Test scores, sports teams, and extracurricular achievements are always competitive with schools much larger than GHS. Yet, the small size gives kids the opportunity to know all of their teachers very well, and to know pretty much every student in the school. It really felt like home for me when I was a student there.
Glasgow High School has a strong tradition of excellence in both the classroom and in our extracurricular activities. Our marching band is known throughout the state for our 'Marching Kilts'. Our sports team have participated in state tournaments from girls' golf to football to soccer (b&g) to swimming to tennis to baseball to track. We have started a lacrosse team. There are several strong student organizations such as the Beta Club, FCCLA, and DECA. The students travel with these organizations to compete in state and national conventions. Our students have been accepted into colleges such as Stanford, Brown, and Vanderbilt. We send quite a number of our students to state colleges and universities to use their KEES scholarship money.
