My daughter is finishing her fourth year at Jefferson, and we have been extremely pleased with the school. The culture is one of high academic expectation, and it comes from the top down! The majority of the teachers are excellent. The major weakness of Jefferson is lack of parent involvement. However, the PTO is improving.

Discipline needs too be an issue at Jefferson because children with behavior problems are being ignored and/or sent to another school because noone has patience to work with the kids.

The teachers are very close to each other and the students and make it a 'family school.' Many of the kids who attend walk to school as it is in downtown. The principal is new and is very aggressively raising the expectations of student achievements. Discipline is not an issue at Jefferson. The student body as a whole is very well behaved. The one downside to Jefferson is that it lacks parent volunteers especially in the upper block, so the teachers have to work with with the students on their portfolios and their AR test.
