When i was there i basically passed by doing nothing. I wasnt really pushed but i wasnt motivated either. It was a fifty fifty thing. The motivation really needs to start at home. Instead of allowing the kids to text or play xbox, parents should really sit down and instill a greater core value for the kids. I know some of my old teachers are still there and would really help them if they felt like they were motivated to try. Mrs bentley was always good at it. She didnt make me feel like a dumb meathead whose only skill was greco roman wrestling. It really stuck with me. Thank you.
I am a former student at SCHS and I am proud to say that. When I was there I received an excellent education. I think a big problem with today's school is lack of motivation in some of the students. There are some great teachers still at that high school and if the students were motivated to learn I know they could under the teachers that I was blessed to have when I was there.
I don't like the school, I don't like the teachers, over 95% of the students are awesome in my book but overall I really don't think it is a proper learning environment. I think some of the teachers need to go back to basic training sometimes or learn some of the more modern ways to teach the children. I don't like when the teachers try to apply their own methods of learning like 'bellringers' or punishment for not finishing homework. Those who fail fail and those who care will pass and not waste their time. Personally, I blame the closed in environment in which we live. Anyway, I wont stick up for the school and when I finally leave home to start a life im not ever going to ever be spotted back in Martin County ever again. This place will hopefully just become a faint memory to me someday.
I am a current student at SCHS. I love the school's teachers, but the school itself needs some help. We all make jokes of the 'Holy Roof.' It rains in Mrs. Bentley's room even when the sun's shining. But the teachers are all loving. They push me and the others in my class to learn. If you don't want to learn, they'll try to help you anyway. The teachers all get to know you and your parents. Sure, our test scores aren't the best, but I can honestly say that nobody at this school has been accused of cheating on the state exam. I would not want to get an education anywhere else.
As a final year student, I feel that I wasn't motivated to learn. Sure sometimes we would get a project here and there or try to learn how to properly write a letter. But only when there was a state test coming up in the next month to improve the school GPA above the 79.6 Goal on cats or w/e. They teach all the students on the same level, so the ones above that level, always got A+'s without no thought while the not so bright ones got lower grades. The students are not given hardly any 1 on 1 assistance and the smarter ones are not being pushed to their limits to excel their learning. Sincerely, Student of Senior Class of 2008-2009
As a former student, I do not feel that I was pushed to learn. I was unprepared for college; I had to learn to study. The school was dirty, and smelled. This was not an atmosphere conducive to learning. It seems there were more of an emphasis on sports than academics.
As a student I do not feel like i was push to learn. I feel like I was just going through the motion. I am not saying all the classes are like this some teachers do a vary good job.. like MR.Evans, MR.Hager, Ms.Goble,Mr.Crum, Mr.Allen, Mrs. Harmon.. thiese are a few of the great teachers at this school. Aswell as not pushing me to expand as a student. the atmosphere is well dirty not because of the people in charge because of the students with no school pride.
Well first of all i'm not a parent.I have all kinds of things to say about SheldonClark. But no room to write them all.But some are good and some of them are bad,but they're just my opinions. The years that I spent at SheldonClark I loved. This year would've been my 12grade year but I didn't make it.SheldonClark is a great school an if anyone reads this SCHS is the best school for anyone. From former student, Kathleen
