Outstanding leadership from the principal; the school system does a tremendous job of providing opportunities for the students from academics, extra-curricular activities to sports related events. Comparative speaking, other schools with a greater capacity of resources fail to utilize these resources. Due to my career my child has attended numerous schools with advanced resources but the administration and faculty failed to capitalize on what was available to them. Estill County goes to great lengths to maximize all available resources. My child said it best, " Dad, this is by far the best school I've attended." I asked him to elaborate with specifics, he responded: teachers are top quality and know their subject matter, they know how to relate the subject matter to the students, the teachers care about the students and the entire staff from the principal throughout are committed to excellence. Finally, the trimester system allows for more electives allowing the students more choices for classes that otherwise would not be possible.

As for the parent who states that our school does nothing in our interest, they are really working their hardest to change things at ECHS for the better of the students. They've switched curriculum to where they are gearing all that we learn to help us achieve higher ACT scores which will definitely aid us in the future. And this year they've even switched to trimester scheduling to help students be able to get more out of the year, because we now have 15 classes a year instead of 8. And as for their senior year, they're doing all they can to prepare our seniors for college type material and classes. So please don't 'diss our school by stating we have limited opporutnities, that will definitely come with a small town so that's pretty obvious.

This school is horrible. The opportunities here are limited, to say the least. Nothing is done in the students best interest, especially during their senior year. The school is far more concerned about CATS scores and attendance, due to money they gain from these, than the well being of the kids. I went here and am so unbelievably glad that I am no longer affiliated with this school.
