Stonewall is a school that values community. Each and every student is unique and important. The principal knows each student by name which doesn't always happen in public schools. Along with a strong focus on academics, they focus on the whole child. My children have made amazing progress and great friends. This a place where our whole family feels welcome.
Not as good a school as it used to be. Apparently. Short staffed. Poor lunch menu (county wide). Have a tendency to NOT listen to parental concerns. Even worse, disregarding and covering up issues w/ some students to prevent involvement by authorities (at least in the recent past - according to a staff member). There is at least 1 teacher (Mrs. Lansden) which is ruining the 1st year of school for Kindergartners. Just cause a teacher has "tenure," is no reason to keep them when they're not doing a good job and providing a positive and enriching learning experience for children.
The math teachers are really nice.
Every decision is made according to what is best for the kids.
Principal Gatliff and his staff of teachers are one of the most dedicated teams I have come across. My child has been at Stonewall 3 years and have been delighted with her teachers and with the wonderful office staff. I am grateful for this school.
Stonewall is an excellent school located within a quiet suburban neighborhood. The principal is excellent and really cares. There is a lot of focus on learning and personal growth. My daughter is going to be in second grade next year and loves Stonewall!
My wife and I love Stonewall, our Kindergartner has done very well this year. we are pleased with the class size and the Principal is excellent
They can expect a lot, but the Federal standards require a minimum learning requirement. They must meet those requirements. Finally, in all fairness, I have a child who has come home distressed because they can't get their work completed because of multiple children in their class not focusing, getting up and down, etc. The behaviour of each child effects all the others. The teachers have a responsibility to protect the learning environment for all the children in their class.
Our son is in kindergarten. He's our one and only ,so we were scared stiff on his first day of school. We were so glad that he seemed to love it from the start. He has learned so much just in the 8 weeks of school that it makes us proud to be stonewall parents.
