DeSales is awesome! It's a place where you can "Be who you are and be that well" (St. Francis DeSales). With the football championship last year and the new stadium on the way our athletics are off the charts. Academics are amazing too; many successful Governor's Scholars and even nationally honored students. Clubs are very inclusive ranging from Pep Band, to Outdoors (CABO), to Campus Ministry, Academic Team, Peer Leaders, Diveristy Club, Intramurals, and all the Academic Honor Societies. All in all, DeSales is the best place in Louisville for a guy to spend 4 years of his life. They strongly empower and embody their ideals of faith, brotherhood, and tradition and encourage all to stand up, stand out, and stand proud. As someone who attended private elementerary and middle school, and one year of public high school, I strongly urge any guy to shaddow and consider us. Don't let distance be a problem, we have a bus! God bless!

I had a son graduate this year and am very proud of the results. The school was very supportive and provided a nurturing environment of which to prosper. My son was awarded several thousands of dollars to attend college. He will go on to play football and eventually join the military to pursue aviation.

DeSales High School is an all male school that offers small environment where individual learning styles are taken into consideration. The small environment also allows for students with learning differences to recieve accommodations in the regular classroom to meet thier learning needs. DeSales won the 2007-2008 Beacon of Hope Award from the Learning Disabilities Association of KY for the non specialized school to meet the needs of students in inclusive situations.

My son graduated from DeSales in 1993. I think it was the perfect school for him. Instead of being a 'small fish in a large pond', he was able to fit in well, and eventually establish himself as a leader in his class. He had no trouble being included in extra-curricular activities. You don't have to be Catholic to attend, but good moral values are stressed to all students, by all the teachers. Strong in academics & extra-curriculars. The teachers are all very caring, and act like a substitute parent while the boy is away from home. Well worth the money spent. Highly recommended.

We have had 2 sons graduate from De Sales, and we feel we could have not sent them to a finer school to change them from little boys into fine young men. The faculty is dedicated to preparing them for the rest of their life, be it college, the military, or the work force. If we had 20 more sons, they would all go to De Sales!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
