my daughter was in the preschool and had two teachers that spoke horrible english (broken) and barked orders at the kids. Thier first language was not english and thus teaching my child correct english was an issue. They called children "bad". Were less than excited to be teaching and for "parties" like valentines day they watched T.V. We did 3 day a week part time and by the end of they year we hardly went because it was board and all she was learning was to to call names. During confirences I was told my daughter could already do the skills required to move to the next room "on the paper" so they were not "focusing" on her. We moved schools.

Don't waste your money and time with that school. Over there is all about who donated more..... Because the kids are judge by who the parents are. After 3 years I finally made the best decision: TAKE MY KID OUT!!!

My son is in the 2yr classroom. At first I was excited about what they sold me. A great curriculum with science and math and no tv. However, the kids were out of control and not enough staff can handle. They say they have an 8 to 1 ratio but they are really skimping cuz the kids are not engaged and are hitting each other. Plus its expensive. Take your kids elsewhere.

I love this school. The principal is about the value of each child. Her goal is that each child be as successful as possible. She is always available to create accommodations with the teachers and parents. The education is so far ahead of local schools.

This school has cliques among the parents as well as the students. A very "plastic" environment. In addition, their academic program has definetly deteriorated.

I thought Sacred Heart Model School was fantastic! I had a lot of wonderful teachers and I had some good teachers. Dr. Bowling was and will always be a nice, smart and caring principal.

The Model School had an excellent reputation long before Dr. Wannemuehler arrived. She began to dismantle the rigor, accept students who could not do the work and catered to spoiled parents and kids. My children attended SHMS and received a fantastic education but the decline began with Dr. W. All schools go through difficult periods. SHMS remains a wonderful opportunity with students and graduates who are well-educated. It is a bargain for what you get.

When Dr. Wannemeuler was the principal the school was fantastic, had a very good environment, and every student was properly challenged, but when she left everything went downhill, the teaching staff is not nearly as good as it used to be and tuition is getting more and more expensive next year, many of the rules at the school are now very unreasonable and pointless.

Sacred Heart Model School is the best grade school in Louisville. I have three children of both genders and they receive not only a fantastic education, but you could not have a more nurturing staff. The students truly respect one another. The sports program is wonderful as well! We are SO pleased.

The cost of tuition continues to rise while the quality of education declines. The school would like to blame the economy for the low enrollment. Parents in the community are more than willing to put the money out there for their childrens' education. It is not good educational value at SHMS! Tuition in 2008-2009 school year is 10k. We are definitely looking at other options.

There isn't a school in Louisville where my children could be more challenged, encouraged, nurtured or at home. The drive for excellence is matched only by the daily mission to grow young people of character. Our family could not be happier with the teacher, principals or campus.

Ever since Dr. Wannemuehler left the school, everything has been worse.

This is an outstanding school with a great family environment. Academics are excellent. Sports, music, and art are terrific. This legacy school has educated many generations of young women. Teachers are outstanding and conferences are meaningful and helpful. You will be proud to have your daughter at this outstanding school.

Great school if you're looking for small size and academic rigor.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
