My friend s children are in this school. She told me that this school is a little too strict and do not take into consideration anything when it comes to following their rules. There was this graduation party for my friend s son and they did not let her attend it because she had a baby with her. She has no one to leave her son with, and cannot afford to put him in daycare or anywhere else. She was sitting in the office crying and her son was crying as well because they didn t allow his mom to attend. This is one example.
I gave this school an average rating since half the teachers are amazing and the other half are just ...well, not amazing. Based on the experiences of three children going through this school, as long as your kids are self motivated learners & never have problems this school is sufficient. In most Kentucky schools, academics lag far behind other areas of the country & this school is no exception. The services offered are limited and there is clear bias against children with difficulties. The principal is chirpy and condescending and talks to adults like they are children. She acts more like a preschool teacher than a principal and has actually said that certain children do not "fit in with the culture of MY school!" That is a direct quote I find interesting since the school belongs to the children and the community, not her. There are certain teachers that go the extra mile to help your child reach their potential and instill a strong sense of self worth, unfortunately some are rigid and uncaring and undo all the good of others. So if you have a typical kid this school is fine, if your child requires extra help or attention I suggest you look elsewhere.
I absolutley loved this school! The academics are excellent. The principal is great! The teachers where awesome!!!!! They have academic teams, a morning broadcast and a band and orchestra that meet twice a week. The band and orchestra teachers are from ramsey middle school and ramsey middle has a distinguish rating band and orchestra aswell. The teachers are leaders, the students are great, and it's a smaller school. There are 3 hallways kindergarten and 1st grade wing, 2nd and 3rd grade wing and 4th and 5th grade wing. Last year they just installed a new play ground. The school is 5 years old, I was a 3rd grader the 1st year it opened and I graduated to middle school 09-10. Excellent choice for elementary school.
