My daughter went to Cochrane for 3 years. As you probably are right now, we were concerned about the rating at the beginning, but I think that 2 does not serve Cochrane at all! My daughter was very lucky to have Mrs. Klotz, Mooring and Sherry as her 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade teachers respectively. They always pushed her to do her best, and she has the best memories of all them. They will have advance classrooms (AP) this year! I served as the SBDM and PTA President for the school, and I can tell you that Cochrane is a small school with a lot of potential. Plus, it is located in a safe and friendly neighborhood in Jeffersontown. Things have changed tremendously in the last 3 years. We have a new principal, Mr. Hobbs, and he is very welcoming of ideas and parental support at Cochrane. I worked with him for a whole year as PTA president, and he always supported the parent organization even when ideas were oh-so new and wild! Visit the school facebook to see it for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/CochraneElementaryPTA?ref=hl
Sadly, I have to move, but I will always recommend Cochrane to all new families. This year, the school had art, Spanish and drama (after school) clubs, several sports clubs, landscaping club and WATCH D.O.G.S. program. Of course, Cochrane also has great teachers and a STRONG PTA. Get involved and you will make the school even better! If you are a very involved parent, PTA will always welcome your help. Always ask to speak with Mr. Hobbs when you visit Cochrane, request a tour and see pictures on halls.
