We have had a great experience with this school I've had 3 kids there and one more to go when he starts kindergarten. If I ever have any issues or problems I feel comfortable to call and they are very helpful. My son graduated 5th grade there in advanced classes and is going to Noe middle school I am very pleased.

I want to share my experience as i saw its rating is 2 i am surprised....My son was in a gifted school in florida with rating 10 but i am not satisfied with the teachers and the school then we moved here and i saw the ratings of the school here so initially i felt bad but when i involve with the school through my son i feel much satisfaction. And i am so happy that he is in a great school and he went last year kindergarten with Mrs Phelps , she is a great teacher, she always pushed his to do his best and ,also he was going to 1 st grade for math and readings with mrs william. She always encouraged him a lot. This year he had a new principal, Mr Hobbs he is very enthusiastic, energetic person and a active member of school all time i saw. The school has a strong PTA and extra art club , spanish club and lots of activities throughout the year. I am very much happy for my son that he is in a perfect school for his early adolescence devlopment. As he need a competent, independent , self aware and involved in the world beyond his families and Cochrane elementary is the right place for him !!!

My daughter went to Cochrane for 3 years. As you probably are right now, we were concerned about the rating at the beginning, but I think that 2 does not serve Cochrane at all! My daughter was very lucky to have Mrs. Klotz, Mooring and Sherry as her 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade teachers respectively. They always pushed her to do her best, and she has the best memories of all them. They will have advance classrooms (AP) this year! I served as the SBDM and PTA President for the school, and I can tell you that Cochrane is a small school with a lot of potential. Plus, it is located in a safe and friendly neighborhood in Jeffersontown. Things have changed tremendously in the last 3 years. We have a new principal, Mr. Hobbs, and he is very welcoming of ideas and parental support at Cochrane. I worked with him for a whole year as PTA president, and he always supported the parent organization even when ideas were oh-so new and wild! Visit the school facebook to see it for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/CochraneElementaryPTA?ref=hl Sadly, I have to move, but I will always recommend Cochrane to all new families. This year, the school had art, Spanish and drama (after school) clubs, several sports clubs, landscaping club and WATCH D.O.G.S. program. Of course, Cochrane also has great teachers and a STRONG PTA. Get involved and you will make the school even better! If you are a very involved parent, PTA will always welcome your help. Always ask to speak with Mr. Hobbs when you visit Cochrane, request a tour and see pictures on halls.

Great staff and lots of opportunities for activities for children. Children are respectful and happy to be at school. The school has a chapter of the National Junior Beta Club!

My daughter attended this school for only 3 grades Before she was threatened by a 5th grader that she was going to kill her! Luckly, that one student did not show up the next couple of days! Also my daughter has been through a ton of bullying, but the teachers and staff did nothing. If you do go here I would suggest you see how horrible it is for yourself!

The teachers at Cochrane have provided our daughter with tremendous opportunities and an environment to excel far beyond her current grade level. The new media center is providing enrichment opportunities for students who may not be afforded the same opportunities at home. We are excited about the collaborative approach taken by teachers to partner with parents in their children's education. Extra-curricular activities (music, dance, sports, etc.) are continuously being added and improved, providing great opportunities for children to get more involved and develop talents and much needed social skills that will prove invaluable later in life. The only criticism we have is regarding the removal of the CEP program. This program provides onsite before and aftercare care through the YMCA of Louisville. With the removal of this program, children still in need of these services must go to another school site and then ride the bus to Cochrane. As the parents of an elementary age student, we would prefer not to have her ride a bus just for childcare purposes.

We are pretty content with Cochrane. It is clear that most teachers love what they do, and there are a few (luckily) of them that shouldn't be in the education field. Principal is a good leader, but I think she could do so much better. The weakness of the school is the poor parent involvement. Some parents just participate in school activities for the free food, and they do not seem interested in doing anything else. I think these parents need to be taught the virtue of giving back. I like the new library, I hope the kids have plenty of oportunities to use it for educational purposes.

I like Cochrane because is convenient. So far the Teachers we had come across are nice. The coach of the cross country team is a super Dedicated person that loves what he does and And loves the children. One of the things That I like about Cochrane is that the principal is really invested In the school, she attends the sports meets, she personally Greets the students at the entrance and what my kid loves the most About the principal is the fact that she rewards good Behavior by having lunch with those well behave students. What I don't like about the school Is the fact that The staff is so friendly, the teachers are nice and So is the principal. But for some reason they don't think To be syncronize. Overall, Cochrane is a good work that I recommend.

This a small school, located in a safe area in J-Town. The principal is a very personable and caring person. The kind of principal that greets the students during morning carline. The school has a diverse group of teachers, and it offers special education programs. The school has a brand new library! You won't miss it when you visit the school. Basketball and Cross Country are the most popular sports at Cochrane.
