I would not advice you to go to this school i am a student at Stuart middle school. Mostly all the kids there take drugs and they always fight also the kids talk back to the staff they tell them curse words and all the teachers do is just send them into another room just for 10 minutes than they return like nothing happened another thing the students are racist if you are any other race than black or white they Will make fun of you race. Most of the teachers don't care what you do they don't care if you get in to a fight they only do stuff in the last second to do something .
I would DIFFENTLY FIRE the PRINCIPAL of this school. She is very rude, unprofessional, and uncaring of her student s futures. This school needs a full overhaul of Administration and Staff. From the Lunchroom Staff to the Administration. Clear the school and start over!!!! Poor test scores, reflects lack of leadership, and dedication of the staff. These Adults are failing their students by staying. I am a Parent of a student that has to go there, he never hated school until he had to enter this school. (My child has good grades only because his parents pick up all the slack from his teachers) Save your child, FIGHT TO KEEP HIM OR HER OUT OF THIS SCHOOL! These students Deserve a better school. The administration and teachers work hard to make Stuart a great school.
I would strongly recommend that any parent that is considering Stuart Middle School for their child do their homework on this school before sending their child there. I went on past history from my oldest child, who is 11 years older than my child now attending, but the school has changed. My son's grades and behavior have been negatively change since entering this school. My son brough home a permission slip to attend an after-school program, and the grammar, punctuation, et cetera was not that of an individual that I believe should believe teaching in any school in any subject. Talking to the principal, counselor is like speaking to a wall. Communication between administration and parents really needs to be improved. I have a younger child, and I will not let her attend Stuart in its current condition. I believe Jefferson County really needs to look at the problems.
My daughter just entered the 6th grade AP program at stuart, and I absolutly would not reccommed this school to anyone. she is in her second week of school, and has not had one page of homework. This school is very unorganized, they leave parents in the dark about everything going on.They give a four hour orrientation, and I left there knowing no more than I knew when I started. My daughter had harder work in elementary school, then she is doing now in middle school I have heard nothing but bad things about this school.I decided to give it a try and it is horrible.I feel she is not going to learn anything while she is in this school, she even told me they have learned nothing and they play games everyday.I can't say enough about this school, just if you can do your child a favor and keep them out!!!!
My daughter attends Stuart Middle She is in the 7th grade...I believe you have your good and Bad teachers everywhere you go, and its not all good for sure, But there is a few caring teachers in the bunch. However I do think That the school could Improve. They could set up some workshops on how Students should treat each other....wouldnt hurt some of the teachers to attend either. Over all I think that there is a effort put in they just need to work a little harder to better the childrens education and tone down the issues.
I am an eight grader at Stuart. I have been at Stuart for two years. i have seen the best and the worst of this school. In my sixth grade year I went to Conway. I lost IQ points everyday. When I came to Stuart all I heard was how horrilbe Stuart was. But when I got there it was great, Teachers welcomed you everyday with a smile on their faces. Sometimes the classes can get a little out of control but they always clam it down. Now as in at the end of my eight grade year all the new teachers and staff are horrilbe. The difference is the year before everyone was friends and this year all we hear is how horrible we are. The school was great before but now with new staff trying to be strict and now students are being bad because of it.
I am a student at Stuart Middle School. I am a current sixth grader. I am a student on Student Council, as well as a Cellist. At Stuart I feel the education is highest of quality and class. I am a Navigator in 603. My classes include social studies, orchestra, math, science, reading and language arts. I enjoy all of my classes. My orchestra is of high quality. I have seen bad reviews of the orchestra program. But I do believe that if a sixth grader gets straight DISTIGUISHED at KMEA, then the school and orchestra is of high quality.
Stuart middle school is at our highest expectations my child go there and is in 6th grade and is very content there.
Stuart Middle School is at its best this year with our new princable, Ms. Alexander. We the 6th 7th and 8th grade spartans at jesse stuart middle school are aloud more freedom. The Freedoms not being escorted to class, 5 min. locker and bathroom breaks! stuart is an awsome school
My daughter attended this school year Aug/2007 and was very unhappy. We really dislike this school and everything about it. Their up to 30 students in each class. No control at all (ISAP is a joke to the kids). Maybe she needed to be on another team, but i doubt it. The staff seemed to be burnt out. Just way too many students in this school. They really need alot help there. I do not recommend this school to anyone.
Hi. I go to Stuart at the moment. It is an okay school, coming from a student perspective. The down fall's are the lack of dicipline on certain teams, mainly those that are below AP classes. Also, when it comes to awards, they focus on sports. If you are on a sports team, man, you are best of the best. those on academic lists don't receive much recognition. I myself are on no sports teams and I'm not planning on getting much when the awards day comes around. The teachers there are great, well most of them. Stuart has a great great health program. The instructor is my favorite teacher. If you are in helath programs you are most likely to be accepted to PRP if your grades are good. AP programs helps that, too.
I went to Stuart in the eighties, when it was the advanced program school for the area. I received an excellent education, and remember my time there quite fondly. Unfortunately, the school has declined in the intervening period. I have two sons there now. While I have no real concerns about their safety (the school is not violent) I have very serious concerns about their academics. Many of the programs and clubs I enjoyed there are now defunct. The orchestra program is absolutely pitiful, with poor equipment and very poor instruction. The foreign language program is barely adequate for any child who is likely to go to college down the line. Worksheets and busywork are the norm, but real learning is a thing of the past at Stuart. Both the advanced and honors programs are working at a level well below what was considered 'regular' program curricula only fifteen years ago.
My son is now attending stuart and I only heard bad things about stuart. Not true! For the first time ever I decided to join PTSA and actually get to see both sides of the school (parent and PTSA). The principal is very nice but also rules the school with a firm hand (as expected). Some of the students do act up but are dealt with in appropriate manner and as expected. Some of the problems are really not the school, the teachers or the students...The problem is how much can be done and is allowed to be done.
My two boys are completing the 8th grade in just 2 days and I am very excited to be getting them out of that school! I believe that they got a very basic education. When compared to other kids their age and even younger, my kids are lacking in some departments and it is because of the lack of academics at Stuart. I believe that some of the teachers care about the kids but overall I think they are just happy if the kids get by. I think JCPS should seriously consider replacing the principal here, I think that would probably help tremendously. We just attended the 8th grade luncheon and awards ceremony and I kid you not the crowd, teachers and all, especially the principal got more excited about all the sports programs and the kids involved in those than they did about the kids who achieved academic excellence. I feel sorry for the students that come to Stuart as you are being slighted in many many ways
Hello. I am a 7th grade teacher at Stuart and personally, I love it here! The students behave in my class. i love these kids. Well, most of them anyway! -Terry Gribbons
I, too, have experienced similar problems with this school. I also saw many students not wearing proper uniforms. My child has not learned anything while attending this school. We have voiced our concerns to be told that he is making satisfactory grades. Maybe, but passing and getting an education are two different things and I think shuffling the kids in and out of the school is their biggest priority, not teaching them.
This school isn't very bad academically, it just is in dyer need of discipline. The kids act up and the teachers are just standing at the chalkboard trying to scream over the children. I am a student at Stuart and it actually is like a party school. -Allison Gammon
My son went to stuart, and I can honestly tell you, do not waste your time sending your child to this poor excuse for a school.
