My 10-year old son has had a very poor school experience before Waller. Now he actually likes school. He says there are lots of activities. Math is his problem area. He now proclaims that math is okay because they do 'fun math'. When asked what that meant, he indicated that he actually to use math in activities where he gets to move around and interact with other peers. He actually measures things, counts things, and uses math manipulatives in play. The low ratio of teacher to student has helped. The tight structure works for him although he'd never admit it. He does homework. For him, that is real progress. Most importantly he loves his male teacher. That teacher really gets through to him. We are really involved parents, and the school has accommodated that. They have on-campus therapy.
