I know how I was treated as a Middle schooler in Ohio and I see how my children are treated at Clay County. They are expected to be , in the words of Ms. Crawford, 'mature young adults' while being treated as if they have not a brain in their heads. The school is clean, beautifully re modeled yet the atmosphere is toatlally ufriendly. I think money better spent would be to re train some of the teachers on how to treat these children that they have in their care. Just my opinion..

The majority of the teachers are very caring individuals. Obviously every class was not perfect, but almost every teacher without question was willing to help my children when made aware of the need. Although there are economic issues, many of the students excel and continue their education by attending state colleges and universities. The Academic team is one of the top in the region and for students who want to succeed, there are opportunities to do so. My children had a very positive experience at this school.

this is the dirtiest school in the district. The atmosphere is very unfriendly. The teachers seem as if they are merely going thru the motions. Simply the worst possible school I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing.

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Kentucky used the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 through 12 in reading, social studies, science, writing, and math. The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky.
