My daughter has been attending Newton Parrish for 3 years now (K-2) and my husband and I have been more than happy with this school. The teachers, aides, librarian and principal are dedicated to the success and achievement of the students. There is a waking track on site to encourage students to walk and jog for exercise. Music enrichment/education is offered at the elementary level-- students can learn to play violin, handchimes or sing in the choir. (My 2nd grader is learning how to read music notes!) They urge students to read by using the Accelerated Reader program as well as having Reading Fun nights at the school. They have a great "anti-bullying" rule that is truly followed by all staff members. Last (but not least) the volunteers at this school put in SO many hours, and make the school that much more fun and friendly for all. Keep up the great work!!
With two children four years apart in age, I have had a child in this school for the past eight years. I am pleased with the environment which is just the right amount of discipline mixed with a focus on academic achievement. Accelerated reading points are emphasized. There is an outdoor walking track students can use for exercise. Music class can include choir or handchimes. There are several teachers who have taught there for years and are happy to be teaching there. The student body is fairly diverse for this region. Students are identified as gifted and may switch teachers for reading and math. There is a dedicated PTO that hosts annual chili suppers, teacher appreciation day, and fourth-grade graduation, among other things. Overall, we have been very pleased with the education provided by this school.
