Enough. They are allowed some time during the day to work on their home work. This allows students to pursue other activities that are also important for their growth and family time. But students are aware of work is not finished at school they are to complete at home.
I do. Once again the counselor, Mrs. Hobbs is very encouraging and she makes a way for each student to get the help or confidence level they need. She and staff encourage and demand students reach to their potential and above.
I do know they do. Bullying is stopped immediately and all special needs are attended to with much care. Mrs Hobbs works with parents and students to eliminate issues that could lead to bullying for unkindness.
It is verbally encouraged and even demanded. There are consequences for those who are rude or unkind. The counselor, Ms. Hobbs spends much of her day discussing attitudes with the students and enforcing all are treated fairly and safely.
Any time I have needed guidance or help, it has been made available. The principal is sets a good example for the students. He has staff assisting with car duty in the mornings who also serve as greeters. Students are treated with respect and encouraged to do the same to others.
Ms. Hobbs, school counselor, is exceptional in her field. I have never in the three (3) years my grandson has attended Paducah Middle, seen her fail to meet any issue with the goal of doing her best to assist and resolve an issue; She talks to the kids in the halls and periodically calls then into her office just to inquire if they need anything or how things are going. She responds to emails and calls immediately. She truly performs her job with care and support for children and parents. Ms. Hobbs is an outstanding counselor and friend to us all. My grandson knows she is always there for him and so do I.
This is a brand new $22 million school just opened August 2013! State of the art. Enrollment is up because students are transferring from the county schools so they can attend this middle school and go on to PTHS. So much emphasis on academics and fine arts. My son is in the orchestra, band, Mathcounts, academic team and track. The teachers are the most caring staff we've met since moving here in 2001. The diverse student population reflects the real world, unlike lone oak middle where he attended in 6th grade. PMS is a fantastic school.
There are many positive changes occurring at Paducah Middle School. Students are able to pursue learning at their own intellectual level. There are many opportunities for extending learning including programs like Math Counts, Academic Team, Creative Problem Solving, Gifted and Talented Programs, as well as programs for those who need extra help with their regular curriculum. There seems to be enough strict discipline tempered with opportunities for fun. The school is racially and economically diverse and teachers encourage interactions between children with very different backgrounds. This has served as a wonderful education in itself for my child. There are many extra cirricular activities including a fabulous drama department as well as countless sports teams. Our child will be graduating from PMS in May and she will definately be well prepared for her secondary education.
