While there are perfect, ideal teachers within the school, many are outdated and burned out. Ture, some students are golden while others are left behind.

As a parent and graduate of Shelby Valley High I feel that this school has been a wonderful school. I have a child there now and have not had any issues. Mr. Johnson the principal there was a history teacher and I and never seem to have a problem going into that school any time of the day and being denied access into the school or any classroom I want to check out. Grant all schools have some troubles bullies are at every school. If we as parents would volunteer more at the school then you would know how the school is run on a daily bases.

I would not advise anyone to send their kids to this school. The principal and his staff are not concerned about the kids in the least. I have had issues with my childrens academics and have been pushed away at every attempt to correct these issues. its no wonder their test scores are so low. Its a shame that the Pike County Board would let this go on at one of their schools, especially when their motto is 'Nothing but the kids', what a joke!

This school has no leadership. The principal let's everything in the world go on here. He just doesn't care. The teacher's can say anything they like to the students and they get by with it. Schools should respect their students. That's exactly why the students don't respect the teachers any more. Certain [students] being picked on, and certain ones being acknowledged more than others.

Let me state that I am not a parent first of all. I'm a recent graduate and I would not send my children to this school. The school does have its picks from students to after school activities. Worst of all though, I don't feel like the administrative faculty cares at all about the students. However, there are some good teachers.

I think that the faculty at Shelby Valley definately has their picks, and it shows. The band is great, the basket ball teams are fantastic. They could do better with their acedemics and the parents could get more involved (I'm just a relative). They could also make it a funner place for the students so the students would get more involved, and I would like to see more school spirit.
