I'm sorry, but this school is horrible. Sure, the teachers are nice but they aren't very motivated to teaching. (Not all teachers, of course). This school IS all about sports, regardless of what people say. My daughter is part of the academic team and she hardly gets any recognition for when she places at the meets. That, I believe, is just not fair. This school needs better teachers, better counselors, and better funding. Maybe if they did go into Tier Status, the state would help the school become better by pushing some more funds and better teachers...
this school is the best it should have more than 3 stars. it good the teachers are great and they are goood at teaching the things that should be tought and they teach life skills as well.
Well, I am a parent of 4 children of whom 2 still attend this school and are doing extremly well in grades and sports,The Principal,Staff and Teachers are very involved in what goes on here at PHS and offer a varity of extracurricular activities, It is not just football as some might think but in my opinion the parent as well as the student has to put forth the extra effort at home as well as in the school system. I do recommend this school to any one coming to this area.
This school is ok, but it could be better.
Mr. George is trying to make change. Change comes slowly, especially when the problems are so ingrained. There needs to less emphasis on sports. The site based council is working to make change, but needs more support from the community. I have noticed that the football team is getting less support, maybe people are tired of things that have happened in the past and are now FINALLY ready for change.
I have been very impressed with the teachers, counselors, and principal at the school. We were recently relocated into the area for our jobs and our kids are very happy. At first, they were leary but now are being challenged much more than in central KY and we are finding that the teachers and other staff take interest in our kids. A+++
I think this school is a joke!
My child is now in the 9th grade this year and I really approve of the learning possibilites and now i subsitute their so the staff members knows me by crystal little. My child is a 9th grader at Prestonsburg High School. So far the school is excellent and my child loves it. Mr. George, the principal, really cares about ALL the students and trying to make it a better school. Also, the counselors have been very helpful addressing all of my childs needs.
My child attends Prestonsburg High School and likes it very much. The principal, Mr. George, has been really helpful to my child who has a slight learning disability. Also, the teachers have been great helping him become a better student. I recommend PHS to anyone looking to chantge schools.
