I think Kit Carson is a great school. My son had Miss. Mattingly for first grade and could not wait to go to school. She was a great teacher who cares about students and made learning fun. I wish every teacher was like her. She is the best of the best.

I currently have 3 kids at the school, all of whom have been at the school for their entire elementary careers. Most importantly, we have been satisfied with all of our teachers and all of our childs' educational experiences. As in any school, some teachers are more organized and better communicators with parents than others. Additionally, as the other reviewer suggested, the school would benefit from more parental involvement. There seems to be a core group of about 25 or 30 parents that do everyting for the school. All in all, we're glad our kids are at Kit Carson; we feel it's the best elementary in the district.

I really enjoy having my daughter in this school. Her teacher is great and all of the students love to see her. She wakes up every morning ready to go.

I think this school has definite pluses. The independence they teach the children is a good level along with high expectations of them to do their best, working with them when they have trouble in any given subject. The teachers are willing to talk to you when they know you want to talk. There are plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved, but you NEED to be involved, so as to know what is going on. There are not calendars of events for some of the grades, I noted, which would be very helpful. However, all it takes is a phone call to find out what is coming up.
